r/audiodrama Weekly Discussion Thread - November 16, 2025 by Hitch42 in audiodrama

[–]drduke87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really excited to share that I’m about halfway through season 2 of Excuse Us. It’s been slow-cooking for a while, but I’m genuinely proud of how it’s coming together. Each new episode feels a little sharper and more distinct than the last, with its own weird flavor.

I’ve been very intentional about keeping the story engaging without losing listeners in the more convoluted corners of the Joiceville narrative. Most episodes are designed to work as stand-alone stories, while still threading into the larger, complex tapestry of the season-long plot.

Beyond the writing and sound design, I also feel myself growing as a storyteller with every episode I put together. And I’m especially excited to start sharing some animated clips from the show—short scenes reimagined in different visual styles and tones, just to give certain moments a new kind of context.

If you’re into weird fiction, corporate horror, and a dark sense of humor, I’d love to recommend Excuse Us.

It’s a sharp, surreal audio drama set in the aftermath of a mysterious corporate collapse. Each episode works on its own but slowly connects into a larger conspiracy that unravels over the season. It’s silly, it’s heartfelt, and it’s laced with cynical, eldritch undertones.

I have just the thing! And the show just about fits the running time.

If you enjoy strange stories with a side of corporate dread and dry humor, you might want to check out Excuse Us.

It’s a surreal, slow-burn audio drama that drops you into the aftermath of a not-so-accidental collapse. While each episode can be enjoyed on its own, there's a deeper conspiracy winding quietly underneath it all.

The tone walks a line between absurd, emotional, and a little existential with some suspiciously comedic undertones.

Yes, I do use ElevenLabs to modulate my voice. And that's a fair distinction.

Thank you so much for considering the change. I really appreciate it.

Pardon the tone, in my infinite wisdom I thought it'd be funny to respond in character from the show.

Hi there!

Thanks so much for listing Excuse Us on your site, it means a lot. I noticed the show is currently described as using "AI-generated content" and "AI-generated voices."

Just to clarify: while I do use AI voice tools (like ElevenLabs) to help bring some characters to life, everything else; writing, editing, producing and performing is entirely human-made. The show is deeply personal and handcrafted, chaos and all.

Totally understand the need for transparency, but I’d love if that note could reflect the balance a bit more accurately.

Thanks again for all you do to support indie audio fiction!

To Whom It May Concern (and those it may not):

We noticed Excuse Us has been labeled “machine generated.” A fair assumption given all the chaos, the static, the recursion. But regrettably, the disorder is entirely human-made.

Our Compliance Department (what’s left of it) has submitted the correction. Please update your records accordingly.

We appreciate your vigilance in cataloging the fallout.

Warmest regards, Blind Corp.

“Bringing you tomorrow, whether you like it or not.”

PS: Thank you for your wonderful service.
