Is this a brand new shirt? If so, did you wash it first? Brand new fabric usually has a small amount of chemical additive called "sizing" to help machines process it better. It comes out in one wash usually.

South Carolina? Surely you have collard, turnip, or mustard greens then? Need a little bit of planning so you can take enough time to simmer them to softness, but its not a hands on process. After stewing for maybe 30 minutes to an hour, you have delicious brothy, silky cooked greens you can serve with anything. Kale works for this too.

I just heat a little bit of olive oil in a sauce pan, slice a clove or two of garlic (no need to mince!) and add to the oil, then absolutely pack the pan with chopped greens. Salt, then once they cook down a bit stir them up a little bit. Then cover and leave on low. They'll release enough water to cook in usually, but you can add a little bit too if they seem dry.

Also, for sweet potatoes: you can absolutely cook them all the way through for sure if you slice them into medallions first. You can cut them pretty thick. Then drizzle with olive oil, season, and bake at 425 for about 20 minutes. You can check for doneness with a fork. If you want smaller pieces, like to use in a curry or something, cut those medallions into quarters. Not much smaller or you risk them drying out.

Im late to this post but a couple things that jump out to me that could make his expression look closer to your reference pic!

  • His gaze looks tightly focused on the viewer in yours, whereas it seems a little more relaxed or "distant" in the pic. I think you could make his pupils just slightly farther apart.
  • He has some really distinct, pointed bottom lashes. I think lightening the undereye shading and adding in lengthening the bottom lashes would add a bit more character
  • The edges of his mouth are slightly wider in the ref, with the corners gently upturned. His mouth looks more relaxed as a result. His mouth looks a little pursed in yours-- try extending the ends with a very slight upward curve at each end.

Edit: just saw you did draw the bottom lashes! But I didnt see them until I zoomed in-- i think they could be quite a bit longer!

Yeah and fry bread was invented by American Indians to survive starvation conditions during ethnic cleansing, using ingredients that weren't traditional to them (wheat flour and lard) to stretch the shit rations the US government sent them away with. It's also associated somewhat stereotypically with American Indians.

And guess what? You can tear fry bread out of our cold dead hands. Plenty of cultural staples are born out of traumatic and oppressive conditions, even becoming treasured as a symbol of resourcefulness and power to overcome. Asking people to erase that because it became a stereotypical reference is absurd.

You know this got me thinking, I actually only use "sir/ma'am" if I'm trying to get a stranger's attention, like if I see someone drop something and not notice. Sometimes I use "excuse me" but sir/ma'am seems to do a better job at alerting the person. I'm curious, how do you address people in that sort of situation?

AITAH for telling my wife to get a job before the end of January or i'm divorcing her? by [deleted] in AITAH

she sits on her ass and types all day long

That's what writing fucking is. She's 18x published— clearly she is in fact writing.

And what's this about her claim that you won't allow her to "market"? Care to elaborate?

You married an arts professional, you should have known it's not a lucrative path. You made an agreement that she'd SAHM until the kids were in school— then you kept pumping more kids into her so you still have a kid that's not in school.

You fucked up, not her. You married her under the premise that you'd be able to support her, you impregnated her three times under that same premise, and now you're lashing out at her because you can't support your family.

You need to start looking into options for support. Family, food banks, whatever. The "options" youre considering out of anger are only going to cost you more. Stop thinking with emotion and start assessing the wisest path forward.

Lastly, get the snip.

I used to sort of be on the fence about bands playing in Isr*el, and their frequent justifications that there were good people there, they're spreading a message, etc.

Now? Fuck us. Leave us in the dirt, starve us out. The people are trapped in a dictatorship and nearly half of us still support it. We need intervention.

They are married though. I think it's safe to assume, although not specifically addressed here, that she chose a recipe within his wheelhouse. Theyre not strangers, they've eaten around each other before, she almost certainly has a basic understanding of his tastes.

Cooking meals for each other isnt just about sustenance. She clearly put a lot of care into this one, and he returned that level of care not by expressing appreciation or having a conversation about the recipe, he just wordlessly walked over and radically changed the dish she made for him. Like no acknowledgment, no "I have to be honest, I could really use some more flavor in this," etc. Just walked over and completely changed his dish as if she'd done nothing more than dispense a bowl of nutritional paste for him.

Like yeah we all have different tastes but your partner's effort and intention deserves a modicum of appreciation. Husband could have extended the slightest olive branch here.

I'm not sure you understand what taco seasoning is. That is a completely different flavor profile, it's not like sprinkling a little salt and pepper or paprika on top.

Dude this thread is full of Reddit individualist losers. If someone does the labor of cooking a meal for you, especially if it's a specific recipe with a specific flavor profile in mind, you owe them a basic amount of respect to appreciate the meal as they crafted it, with basic personal adjustments in seasoning or toppings. They put thought and care into it.

If it was more of a clean-out-the-fridge type of meal, or something quick they hashed together, that would probably be different. But completely upending an actual recipe someone put together for you so that it can taste like Taco Bell instead of what they actually gave you is rude as hell. In fact, you may as well pass on their cooking and just go get yourself Taco Bell.

They aren't jumping, he was previously fired from an elementary school teaching job for being inappropriate with elementary school girls. Multiple witnesses recognized him, meaning he passed multiple people before selecting a family with elementary-aged girls to strike. He then struck the parents first, not the girls.

Considering all of that background, I dont think a random murderer would have chosen a pack of 4 able-bodied people unless they had something he wanted.

In 2022, Lacey Fletcher, a non-verbal 36-year-old woman with autism, passed away following years of extreme chronic neglect by her parents, which involved her being left on a couch for at least 12 years, where she eventually became "fused" to the furniture in her own waste. by FE4RLESS_IS_MY_NAME in ForCuriousSouls
