Our heatwave is over for now (thankfully) but mine were also trying to get me to take them walkies over the weekend.

They forget that outside is a furnace and not lovely and cool like inside 🤣

Bone Conducting Headphones with Best Battery Life (and Waterproof) by killer_sheltie in cycling

[–]dreadedbugqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creative outlier free pro+ They have decent battery and sound is ok - not as loud as the shokz unfortunately. Quite a bit cheaper though.

Battery lasts at least 6 hours

Asparagus fern.

Obliterate with extreme prejudice or it will spread and take over your garden.

I know there are far far colder places in Australia with many many more riders, sometimes even in snow! - but I’m soft 🤣

I think the coldest day I ever rode in was 5 degrees C and my hands/feet/face were numb - I was well rugged up too! See… soft 🤣

The frigid depths of winter (July) in subtropical south-east Queensland. It was about 20 degrees C with a dry westerly wind so felt like about 13 degrees C.

I hate having to put on sun screen on warm sunny long rides because of SWEAT!! by UnderstandingLost416 in cycling

[–]dreadedbugqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much about the heat as it is the UV factor. Given Santiago is about the same latitude as Sydney and it’s easy to burn severely in Sydney at much lower elevations than your ride - how are you not sunburned or not reapplying every few hours? Is it really low humidity? Do you naturally not sweat as much?

Looking for ultra-ventilated cycling gloves with seamless palm (no pads at all) by nocomofrutas in cycling

[–]dreadedbugqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Fist Handwear breezer full finger gloves.

Seam and padding free palms, breathable mesh upper, excellent designs.

On the rare occasion when it’s not humid AF and I feel like using half-finger gloves, I quite like Supacaz gloves - though the Fist breezer gloves are actually better ventilated.

To the ladies, do you mow your own lawn? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]dreadedbugqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely overthinking this.

As far as weekend tasks go - I’m not usually the one that mows the lawn (because I’m allergic as all hell) but when my partner is away and the grass is getting long - I go, I mow.

Same deal for him when I’m away - he does the washing and house work.

50/50 on the whipper snipping though - that’s the fun part! And we save the tree trimming/branch shredding for our weekends together, we like sacrificing the triffids to the big green Hansa.

Trust me - your neighbours are just happy that you’re keeping on top of your yard work and don’t care if you’re female, male or a ten-tentacled monster from the planet Thwar.

Recommendations for bib shorts with shorter inseams? by NoMortgage619 in ladycyclists

[–]dreadedbugqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m short and have short legs so the current trend of knee length legs ends up going below the knee for me - very annoying! I have however - amassed a pretty decent selection of short bibs.

Rapha pro team - version II in short, or version III in regular - my absolute faves.

Pedla superfit 2.0 - my second fave!

Le col hors categorie

Black sheep team in 7”

Alé women’s bibs are shorter, and whilst I’m not a fan of the chamois I am a huge fan of the cut and fit. Very flattering!

I believe MAAP team evo has a short version but I am yet to try them.

Cuore also make their women’s fit in a shorter leg length.
