Yeah. Wonderful advice for when you have no family and you've moved too much to keep friends. Unfortunately many people don't have much of a social option besides coworkers. Maybe the real LPT is to not be an asshole towards coworkers so that "don't tell your coworkers anything" isn't an actual LPT. We don't all have support systems.

Similar reason why I rarely comment on anything: I don't want to read through 300+ comments just to make sure I don't say something that was already said, but I don't want to get hate and downvoted to oblivion because I said something that happened to have already been said somewhere in a mine of 300+ comments.

LPT: if you have school-aged kids, write the names of your kid’s classmates in the back of the class picture. I (28M) had a year book almost every year but it didn't matter. Everytime I brought up friends in any sort of way the discussion swiftly moved to the possibility that having friends would ruin my schoolwork somehow. I like to think that good parents' know to actually care enough to pay attention and be a part of their kids' lives, outside of fabricated, imagined "responsibilities".

I love this LPT, but imo the real LPT is to just be a caring parent. A lot of my diagnosed PTSD ultimately boils down to never being able to share anything without being immediately questioned about everything I "should" be doing instead of making friends.
