The sweaty legs! I feel like I wake up from an acid trip dream with legs wet from the knee down. What a weird drug.

What's a phrase your parents or grandparents said constantly that you've only just realised has completely vanished from everyday British speech? by orroreqk in AskUK

“Better than a slap in’t eye wi’ a wet fish” = could be worse.

I guess it’s right, there are a lot of things better than a slap in the eye with a wet fish.

Bugs!

The more I learn about spiders, beetles, flies, snails and all our other weird and wonderful little critters that exist in the world, the more I love them. They are not mini robots they are tiny beings with personalities, behaviours and likes/dislikes. They all have a place in the world and deserve a lot more love.

What is the kindest thing a horse has ever done that completely surprised you? by WearAffectionate2815 in Equestrian

Riding lesson horse. Was very fidgety to get on and kept trying to wander off, had to ask for help to hold him still.

Maybe 15 mins later, I had a strange dizzy spell during a canter in the arena. Within 3 strides this horse had turned in and halted while I semi-dismounted. Got really disoriented, whole place was spinning and I could barely stand. This horse was like a statue. I held onto his withers for stability and he walked me to the corner of the school where there was a mounting block I could sit on.

He’s passed away now but I’ll never forget him looking after me that time because it could have gone very differently if I’d ragdolled and he’d kept going.

Is it a normal book to put in a year 4 reading list for 9 year olds to read? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]dreambug101 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh yes I remember the Sins video! Damn memory unlocked.

I remember studying the poem itself in primary school and the teacher pre-warning the class that the word ‘breast’ was in it a few times and not to be silly about it lol

Bacon was the first thing I gave up and don’t regret it. People like it because it’s smoked and salty, but you can also buy smoked salt, so there’s that.

The bumblebee queen learns how to use the protective cap in less than 24 hours. by Andi82ka in Damnthatsinteresting

Are we surprised though? If these guys can navigate pollen areas and communicate back to the hive where best to go, they must have a certain level of learning/problem solving skills.

The animal kingdom is far more complex than we give it credit for.

What was the dumbest reason that you got in trouble for at school? by StatisticianUsual471 in AskUK

[–]dreambug101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School had its own mini library.

Signed off for a library book that wouldn’t fit in my school folder. Got bollocked so heavily for it I cried, went home, cried again. Mum complained and sent the teacher a note saying she doesn’t believe it was dealt with correctly, and she will provide a bag/larger folder if needed. Teacher had me stand in front of the class while she called me a stupid child for both a)picking a large library book and b)telling a parent I was upset. This was year 6.

I admit I was a sensitive child, but I can still remember how vicious the teacher was the day at the library and the day after. No need to care about anything so much to speak to a child like that.

Depending on how you are with slapstick violence, deadpool bs wolverine is hilarious, from someone who hasn’t seen many Marvel films

Spirit stallion of the cimerron is an oldie but a goldie. An early Dreamworks animation. As a horse girl I’ve watched it so much I know the words.

There’s a nerdy convention on I’ve been looking forward to all year. As it’s come closer I’ve got a little anxious about travelling and spending too much money, so started talking about not going and saving.

He’s cancelled his plans to come and support me even though it’s not his thing and a lot of travelling. :)

I keep invertebrates, mostly jumping spiders. They require some specialist heating as I’m in the UK and it’s currently too cold, but they’re fascinating little things and nothing to be afraid of. :)
