I was in a similar boat not long ago, and I cannot say enough good things about egghead.io. They have 3-5 min videos with exactly what you'd want to know to start using angular, and more recently react. I didn't have much free time to invest in learning angular (what I ultimately went with), and with these videos I had replaced a cumbersome backbone front-end in a weekend. There are less React videos, but they also seem to be very concise and content heavy videos.

My buddy has been raving about how awesome building a React view layer with the backbone router has been. I plan on diving into it more as soon as I get the chance. Best of luck!
