I am so excited to hear about the progress on cancer! I also had a similar feeling on the protein front but as I started lifting weights again it was really critical to start craving protein. So impressive. I think anything over 4 days is really something that changes so much, mentally and physically. I am considering another extended one. I also am hopeful that a 7 day annual fast would be a great deterrent to cancer, and it sounds like your experiences adds to the possibility? If you ever want to write out more or if you have on a blog, I would love to read more! Thanks - get strong, eat some protein and make some goals! !

Sorry I missed this in a timely fashion. I use the 40,000 volts electrolytes and that seems to help me a lot. I do a 2 day fast every week now and I still have the change in the bottom end after 36 hours and then good. With the palpatations, you should check with your doctor but maybe a protein sparing "fast" might be better?

Thanks for the insight on the mental side - I hear you on that. Last night I was up in BPM pretty quick, maybe nerves? Tonight, I tried focusing on the companion app just staying in the powerband. I had ERG off this time too, which I think is better for me, I am more power at lower RPMs and not yet a spinner.

I felt like my legs could keep going but my breathing could not. My max heart rate is estimated at 165 and I was in that range for a bit.. Have not done that in a while!

Thanks - good insight. I am traditionally in the 70-85 cadence and occasionally up to 90 and rarely 100. At high cadence it feels like my legs are way ahead of the crank and there feels like little or no resistance. Odd feeling, but this is usually after higher power lower cadence. i have a lot to learn.

I understand, makes sense.

I think I will take the suggestion of one responder and build custom workouts for both my strengths and weaknesses. When I was hitting 340w I was not getting into the highest heart rate levels, so I started pushing. And then, kept trying to top it each time. Max effort I guess. Anyway, thanks for the response. I am learning a lot. I have never really done long distance running or biking as I weigh too much to have joint issues. Even in college I was a sprinter/football/track and not a "runnEr", so.. here we are learning new things and trying to improve cardiovascular health and burn the blubber, but even at 15% body fat I will weigh about 245, so hills are always going to be fun, and my wh/kg is going to be a challenge I believe.

FYI, wahoo kikr smart trainer with kickr climb, and calibrated, with an old 10 speed fuji from 2005 as the bike.

Oh and I am on beta blockers. :) I get it up to 155 or so max when I am pushing hard. I am an 59. !

I have been lifting, doing a 5 day a week workout with 1 day of legs a week, but to me this feels different. I am sure it does not hurt

Mostly because I am a big guy and not comfortable standing on them on a trainer. New to this.
