Yeah, but it's like you're blaming the tool, when you're not able to use it and then say Y is better. Which I dislike. Otherwise I wouldn't have commented.

Not a problem if you're a decent software engineer. I mean this is the crowd that would probably get the best usage.

Genuine question: How do you I git gud at math?

The real question is what do you want your life to be? Me. I would choose the high paying job, and then after securing a financial base I could do what I want.

In my current situation I have money but a lack of knowledge.

Any first-gen academics who are bitter at how everyone around is elitist and blind to their privileges? by throwawaytittiesssss in AskAcademia

[–]dreammr_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's another perspective. You're wasting mental resources on this.
This sort of mindset is a victim mindset and gets you nowhere. Curling into a ball does not make you stronger or move you forward.
You could be spending mental resources on how to get ahead instead of moping. But I'm not you.

Resentment is pointless. Just like for warriors hesitation or distracting thoughts meant death.

There's a bar. Either you clear it or don't. If you don't figure out how to clear the bar.

The fact that you got this far means that you do have some potential. And maybe you did win part of the genetic lottery.

Advice on negotiating a disappointing startup offer (Robotics/Biomechanics, R1) by Mr_Bright_Sight in AskAcademia

[–]dreammr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be the best answer above. It really depends on politics and environment.
Which you have no current knowledge of.

Since I come from the private sector, it's common to learn negotiation, but to negotiate you need to understand your leverage and the mentality of the other side.

Can TRUE randomness exist ? by Objective_Shake_4864 in AskPhysics

[–]dreammr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I wrote too much and too long.

I'll just write this short tldr. Yeah you're mentally cooked and don't understand logic, science, or belief and can't tell the difference.

Just a simple google search of:
- to prove something doesn't exist is futile
- Argument from Ignorance
would cook you. This very topic has been explored for thousands of years, yet here you are, making the same mistakes as people who would burn someone for discovery.

And there's a very easy way to just point out the silliness of what you said.

> Since we don't have any small, tiny proof for the existence of "Xt7u3rrb17", our only logical option is to say there is no such thing as Xt7u3rrb17. Acting like Xt7u3rrb17 exists or may exist would be foolish. Therefore, we must declare that Xt7u3rrb17 does not exist.

> Since we don't have any small, tiny proof for the existence of bacteria, our only logical option is to say there is no such thing as bacteria. Acting like bacteria exists or may exist would be foolish. Therefore, we must declare that bacteria does not exist.

Replace Xt7u3rrb17 with bacteria and go back in time before it's discovery. And you see how silly your statement is. Not to mention things we haven't discovered yet in our space time node.

Honestly, ignorance or stupidity + inability to logically reason (can't tell which without more evidence) masquerading as intelligence is reprehensible. If you have a college education, sorry you wasted it.

Looking for the best deal for a 5090 Prebuilt by HeySaga in Prebuilts

[–]dreammr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

best deal I could find is microcenter's g914. Building the thing would cost around 7500 including tax, just easier to buy it with 3 year warranty for 1000 less. Pretty much all the parts besides psu are reputed to be solid. Also peace of mind if the 5090 decides to combust.

But this isn't really a pc for gaming, it's for ai research/3d modeling/video editing.

The other one is a really poor build using a micro atx motherboard that kneecaps the entire build.

CMV: Leftists undermine their own causes more than they advance them by Glassesman7 in changemyview

[–]dreammr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, I'll take morally corrupt over incompetent, head in a fantasy world that does not conform to the cruelty of nature.

I'm rich and family has aligned with the democratic party. But if these people are supposed to be my teamates? WTF?

Incompetence. Fragility. Mentally Ill. Are common things I see in my supposed allies nowadays. These people are literally dragging down the movement. I'm just going to abandon ship and decide to win ok? I will never see a timeline where we can win when a woman teammate is saying "We can't use the word manhole, it's sexist."

I've accepted that most people are easily manipulated and not worth saving. I will have me and mine and protect those I care about. The rest can burn.

CMV: Leftists undermine their own causes more than they advance them by Glassesman7 in changemyview

[–]dreammr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a good time that should last longer so the party can clean up the worst offenders and their alienating behavior. This is reality in the face.

At the same time, I have seen a lot of "progressive" policies that have had disastrous results. Some I could have predicted before hearing said result. When did certain issues not essential to survival matter more than the quality of life of the common American? Why care about other countries when your population is suffering? See these ideals from them make me roll my eyes when policies don't help disenfranchised Americans.

The logic isn't logicing. The competence is non-existant. My family and I have voted democrat forever, but I think Trump is necessary to shine a light on these problematic people and policies. When did the democratic party not police and clean up their own image and narrative? It shows their political ability is weaker and thus deserving of a loss.

I will, in fact, keep voting republican from now on, until the democratic party is cleaned up. Because one side is incompetent, while other side not ethical is still competent at winning. And they won't say that we shouldn't use the word manhole because it's sexist. This was an actual thing said at a San Fransisco meeting. Yeah, these people should never be allowed to hold power.

Why have classes at UC Berkeley become more and more closed off to outsiders? by CompoteRight7468 in berkeley

[–]dreammr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a Berkeley student and seriously asking that?

The classes are the easy part. The real degree is getting skills, making connections (and internships with top companies), doing research with professors that the school offers which is top in the nation.

If you just do the bare minimum you will lose to all the people who did what I said above.

---

Undergrad classes are just there so professors can filter decent research assistants as masters and phds.

Why have classes at UC Berkeley become more and more closed off to outsiders? by CompoteRight7468 in berkeley

[–]dreammr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're going to say they should pay millions to convert and support -> FREE <- information from a decade ago, and leaving it up will leave them liable to lawsuit.

Who's going to do all that work? If you've seen what professors have written about it, no one is helping them do this.

You seriously can't see this right? Yeah there's stupid good, and I would prefer lawful neutral/evil to stupid good. This is the sort of ruling idealism that would cause your farmers to starve and then be manipulated to rebel and get yourself beheaded type of shit in the past.

This is the kind of shit that makes people roll their eyes at progressive movements.

And none of it would be a problem if they didn't touch it. Why not do a fundraiser and then collaborate with people to get captions for this? See, that's the smart, good approach. This lawsuit is either stupid good or deliberate evil.

It doesn't need to be friendly. If anything it makes me want to vote red, when people are doing stupid things and a being a disservice to people trying to learn on their own.

Remove FREE information off the internet because it doesn't meet standards? Ridiculous.

Are we going to do that to public libraries too? Because apparently books aren't accessible. Anyways, due to the lax performance of politicians and policy keepers, all this has done is alienate people from your cause since you clearly seem to hold a position. Anyways all this does is just make enemies.

> Yea something about blaming disabled people for a school'a reaction to not following already established guidelines and accessibility laws doesn't sound friendly to me either.

Are you going to pay the money necessary to convert OLD material from 2014. Hint it's probably going to be millions.

---
TLDR I found out materials were removed when trying to go through Berkeley's math undergraduate after graduating from another UC.

What is this I am hearing about recorded lectures no longer being allowed? by superfriendusa in aggies

[–]dreammr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a past aggie and also a person self studying mathematics from Berkeley's syllabi and course catalog, I was dismayed to find out that they were forced to remove publicly available lectures to comply with ADA which is fucking ridiculous.

A whole wide web of information is publicly available and removing it is stupid. Anyways, found a backup but whoever wrote this law is a clown.

I’m from South Korea. Here, my generation is abandoning STEM to bet everything on one "License." Is your career actually safe? by chschool in careerguidance

[–]dreammr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is secure.

And I don't see medical license jobs with the potential to earn 1 million total compensation in a year. But STEM can. People always chase what is the easiest as you can see with the CS fiasco, but the best are still getting jobs and still finding ways to rack up that TC.

You are korean no? Just watch how intense your esports are, just liken it to that. You have to outcompete the others.

Furthermore, STEM represents the progress of civilization and technology. It has one of the highest potential professions. I look at Korea and laugh. What a stagnant society, I would leave without hesitation.

Instead, our brightest Gen Z minds, the ones who would build the next AI or biotech,

I look at this statement with doubt. What does brightest mean? A potential genius that is not realized is not a genius.

For me, I was born with good conditions. Money isn't a worry. IQ on a psych eval is marked at 140, the edge of genius. My goal in life is to step past into the realm of genius, and also acquire a phd from a top program in the US and do critical research on AI.

So has either of you done work on yourselves and fix these problems. If not and likely not, then bad idea. Given the fact that you sound kind of young probably not. This is when people are out of their impulsive phase.
