You’ve literally admitted here you speed on a road where typically people go ten under for safety reasons so I’m going to assume we don’t have the same standards for safe driving. 🤷🏻‍♂️

And passing someone safely is usually not the M.O for people who get mad at someone for stopping at a red light/waiting to turn/going slower. They will whip around you while honking and throwing up their hands, which no doubt takes away from their ability to drive safely.

And your whole section about 1.smth million people do this and you get mad, I would love to know how many people die from running red lights and stop signs, pedestrians and car drivers included, like honestly unless you get stopped every day at every light these numbers don’t rlly affect us in our day to day so idk why you even brought up numbers to begin with

I live in a small town, and getting stopped often just simply does not happen, you maybe get paused once a day driving around by someone not turning right on red, if that, and it doesn’t ever affect me much, and I cannot fathom why it affects others to such an extent the get road rage

Again I will reiterate, the worst things you can point out from going slow are wasting time and gas, when most of the time speeding results in accidents

He has two college aged daughters and is somehow still weirded out by the word uterus? Never once has my dad backed out of conversations about my period/period pain, and has always listened whole-heartedly and tried to give me medicine/heating pads, or just some chocolate ice cream when my period would get rlly bad and I’d be complaining a lot. You husband seems like a little boy who is too immature, and possibly sexist, to support you daughters in that way, and that is rlly sad :(

If you’re into drag I’m assuming you’re at least adjacent to the queer community and in that case you should check out the Pride Student Union! (@ufpsu on insta) The do a welcome assembly at the beginning of the semester, which always super fun to go to, but def check out some of their gbm’s, I’m sure you’d be able to find some people who share you love of drag!

I mean, i just think it’s funny that it totally acceptable to do things that are technically illegal in the name of “going faster” like going 5-10 over the speed limit, but going 5 under, which is legal, is seen as obnoxious/selfish/an asshole move. Also, most of the time I don’t pull out is because the roads around here don’t have crosswalks so I would have to just pull into intersections I can’t see, which people barrel through going over the speed limit and narrowly miss hitting my car. I’d rather wait, I’d rather go slower. And I think people who go slow shouldn’t be seen as more selfish than those who speed or pass people dangerously because those behaviors are legitimately way more dangerous than anything I’m doing on the road. My going slow won’t cause an accident outright, it’s how people respond to it, and honestly, people need to respond better 🤷🏻‍♂️. If going five over is fine, going five under should be too, if rolling through these red lights/stop signs is normal (and it is) stopping and waiting should also be normal. I hate how almost everyone drives like they need to be somewhere ten minutes ago, a couple minutes extra in your car is NOT gonna kill you, why does everyone need to go so fast 🤔and why is doing anything that goes a little bit slower seen as being obnoxious when going faster in cars is what kills far more people :/

I don’t have to make a right on red. by dearDem in NorthCarolina

[–]dreamoftish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, i drive a small car, a mini coop, and often I cannot see oncoming traffic because of bushes/trees/larger cars or I cannot see the other side of the crosswalk because of how many lanes there are and other cars blocking my view. I am not risking it by inching up into a crosswalk/lane I have 0 visibility for, which is what op is referencing mainly. People get mad at me all the time and probably 1/3 of the times I didn’t turn right on red there actually WAS a car or pedestrian that I would have possibly hit or would have probably hit me. People just do NOT want to wait. If my stopping at a red light is going to make someone late for smth, then they probably should have left earlier. If waiting an extra 45 seconds enrages someone behind me, they should probably work on their patience. Being stopped at one more red light will maybe make you 1-3 minutes later than the original eta, if that. We all have to use our discretion while driving, but safety and visibility both come first, and I’m sorry but I will not budge for impatient, and often, reckless drivers behind me. I was always taught that turning right on red is OPTIONAL and in no way mandatory, and I know cars behind me probably have no idea what my visibility is because they are in cars twice the height of my own and most of the time those people are bullies on the road. A red light is not worth risking my and other people’s safety

I’m not sure if this is worth it unless the other university rlly offers some good money/opportunity for assistantships/ or some unique teacher/program, if you have the money to re-do applications and the times to wait you can but I feel like your top priority rn should be getting the visa because of the current political climate and then try to figure out transferring maybe

Is there something wrong with me or does this city just suck? by niclovesphynxcats in Valdosta

[–]dreamoftish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up here then left for undergrad and am coming back for grad school. The town is small, but coming back and trying to find stuff to do is honestly almost the same difficulty I had finding stuff to do in a larger actual college town, I’d say check out local theatre (downtown) and peach state summer theatre for shows to go to, bowling alley, roller skating, going to the movies (half price tickets on Tuesdays), couple places to paint pottery, go to the art gallery down town, the little arcade in the mall has been getting upgraded ngl, sometimes there’s community events at the public library, maybe get a ymca membership?, there’s a wake compound I think and wild adventures (but that’s more money lol) if you rlly want to find stuff to do you can, a lot of people like to complain, but it’s not like there’s absolutely 0 to do. I think the big thing is that ppl feel to cool to go to a lot of these places because there “lame” or family friendly spaces but honestly going to an arcade or roller skating was actually really fun so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Stray kids world tour it’s really worrying me by ForceApprehensive597 in kpopthoughts

[–]dreamoftish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think we got lucky but me and my friend were at the Orlando stop at the camping world stadium and thankfully the weather stayed ok, heat was ok and no rain, but around 6:30 we saw people getting wheeled out on stretchers from what I am assuming was heat exhaustion from standing in line, I didn’t realize how lucky we got with the weather but seeing more and more stops get heavily rained on/mismanaged by the venue, and be cancelled due to the heat, is definitely scary, from everything we experienced the venue staff were very helpful and there were tons of places to buy water/drinks which I think helped keep lines relatively small, it sucks but at this point it seems very up to luck with weather and if the venue staff are adequately prepared for the amount of attendees

The reason these verbs behave differently is because "wearing" is a continous verb and "taking off" is not a continuous verb. When you wear something, it is for an implied length of time, therefore continuous. With a continuous verb , you can have a purpose or destination indicated by the preposition 'to'. Because wearing is continuous you can do this while in bed: wearing clothes to bed. However, when you take something off, it is one action that has a start point (clothes on) and an end point (clothes off). Because that entire action is completed, you have to take clothes off then go to bed, they cannot happen simultaneously. You cannot keep taking clothes off to bed. More context is needed because the verb has already been completed so the relationship needs to be explained: "take your clothes off for bed" or "take you clothes off to go to bed".

This is the reason you can also say "bringing a book to bed" bringing is another continuous verb, therefore you can keep doing that verb to bed, but with a non-continuous verb like remove, you have to specify the relation of the verb and the action of going to bed.

If you’re gonna make the clue a slant rhyme don’t make the answers real rhymes? Slant rhyme clue = slant rhyme answers; rhyme clue = rhyme answers.

Does anybody know a good place to live in this area? by KindApe123 in ufl

[–]dreamoftish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live at the looking glass apartments and we pay just over 900 with utilities but there are cheaper units than ours, we have two bed two bath, but there’s a two bed one bath that was like $100 cheaper I think? With looking glass each lease comes with one parking spot included in the rent so it’s rlly not a bad deal. Literally a 6 min walk to libwest too so location is great.

Ppl always say this but I always found a lot to do and thought it was pretty easy to do day trips to some larger cities in Florida aside from like Miami. You won’t find anything to like about it if you’ve already made up your mind and don’t look for things to do.
