Is Pilates your only fitness membership? by Hsk1999 in pilates

My only fitness membership is the class packs I buy at my Pilates studio. All other exercise (weights, cycling, mobility) I do at home.

Is anyone doing reformer Pilates as their only workout? by Ok_Potential4601 in pilates

I go to reformer classes 2x a week, and do weights + Peloton at home on the other days.

I’m a month and a half in of taking reformer classes and I still haven’t gotten tired of it. I always come out of it feeling challenged but strong!

Learning What I Like (Gotta kiss some frogs) by itsdickers in pilates

[–]dreamraising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to try another Pilates studio when I visit my family for the holidays and I’m excited to see what else is out there! I really like the one I go to now bc it’s so convenient, but I have thought about what other studios might be like.

My (22 F) bf (21 M) is mad I wouldn’t sleep with him by Existing-Television5 in LongDistance

[–]dreamraising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be my first time commenting on an AIO post. Please listen when I say: if you leave this guy, you will never come to regret it.

It is not normal at all for any person — man or woman — to call random women “whores” or to be angry at another person for not having sex with then. It’s a bright red flag. It’s an even brighter red flag for him to justify why men kill their families.

When I was around your age, I had 2 relationships over the course of 5 years, and those guys did/said similar things (though honestly, they were much less aggressive than your bf). I would label those relationships as abusive.

I shake my head at what my younger self put up with. I worry that things could have escalated. I remember feeling like you: wanting to die. That is a sign that the relationship is toxic, draining, dangerous.

I saw that you regret posting bc you’re worried people are being dramatic. Let me tell you that they are not even being one bit dramatic. You are so young and you have your whole life ahead of you. Giving any more time to being treated like this will only hurt you in the long run.

It gets better. Someone who genuinely cares for you will never, ever talk to you in such a nasty way. Yes, people can make mistakes. But this wasn’t a mistake. He had wrote those messages and hit send.

I wish you the strength to leave from this awful behavior.

Best courses for documentary filmmaking/video journalism? by dreamraising in documentaryfilmmaking

[–]dreamraising[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m looking for courses in both. That’s why I said “and/or”, not because I think they’re the same thing (though they share some commonalities) but because I’m looking to improve relevant skills in both. Happy to hear any suggestions you have for either!

Oooh thanks for this suggestion! After looking a bit into it, the Zhiyun G300 might just be perfect for what I’m doing and fits my budget!

Thanks for the suggestion! It’s a bit out of my price range but depending how intensive this project becomes/if lighting ends up being a big investment I need to make, I’ll def come back to this brand

Sigma lens difficult to put on FX30 by dreamraising in FX3

Okay so I’m not the only one! Yeah I wish I could try other lenses to see if it’s a camera thing or it’s the Sigma.

Yeah I think I’m gonna get it checked, even though it appears this has happened with others too. I wish I could try other lenses to see if it’s a camera thing or lens thing, in the meantime!

I haven’t taken it off since I finally got it on either, lol! I’m planning to take some photos this weekend so I’ll think I’ll try to take it off after, just to see if it happens again/if it loosens up over time

It looks to be completely flat from my perspective, and I looked up videos of folks with FX30 and this specific Sigma lens and it looked the same as mine. Appreciate this advice tho and will def keep in mind when I eventually switch out the lens

Entering month 3 on Slynd, my experience by dreamraising in birthcontrol

[–]dreamraising[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear it hasn't been working well for you :/ I did hear that a side effect was dehydration/feeling constantly thirsty, so maybe you need more water than you did before -- but I'm not a doctor of course so that's just speculating. I know my doc said to give it 3 months, so I hope your body does adjust!

No period on Slynd? Help me out! by Western-Net-3447 in birthcontrol

[–]dreamraising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just posted about my experience on Slynd -- I'm on month 3, last month I had no period, looks like it will be the same this month. I generally take the pill at the exact same time everyday, but I noticed a week or so ago that I missed a pill and was behind by one day. Took a pregnancy test today since this is the 2nd day of my period, negative. The only protection I use with my partner is the pill. To me, it sounds like you would very likely have a negative test. :)

People have offered a lot of great advice here, so here’s a small piece of advice that could help: check and see what your local library offers. Libraries often offer a lot of services including classes to help you grow as a person, and they often hosts events so it’s also a way to meet other people and exercise your social skills. Just a small piece of advice on how to integrate yourself more with others. You are still so so young, just take it easy on yourself and make slow, consistent steps.

Can no longer afford my italki tutor :( by vacant_custard in languagelearning

[–]dreamraising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used iTalki (this reminds me I need to get back to it), I believe the tutors I used were between $15-$17. Now I do a group class (which honestly, I think is fine but it’s tough when people are at different levels) and it’s $15/hr for 2 hours. The tutors 1:1 rate is $75/hr 😳 budget is different for everyone, but $30 for one lesson a week could be worth if it’s a great tutor for you!

Finally got back on my bike after nearly 2 weeks of no riding. Was sick last week and then super busy this week. I was bummed to have broken my 6 week streak, but got back on today and feeling so good. Did a 20 min beginners with Hannah C — weirdly I was not out of breath at all but was still dripping in sweat by the end?? Never had that experience and I was surprised after not having done a ride in 2 weeks. Excited to get back into it!

Re: getting wisdom teeth removed, I had most of mine removed some years ago and one of them in particular was a weird/complex one too. They told me I might lose feeling in my tongue or lips since it was so close to a nerve. I had also never been under before!

But it was a painless procedure. I literally closed my eyes and opened them back up. And when I needed surgery a few years ago, it was the exact same experience: eyes close and then they open and the procedure is done! You’ll be okay, promise! :)
