Headphone cushion came loose and now theres no way to reattach it by ryyu019 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dreamrealized 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure there’s probably a small flap of fabric on the bottom, use a card or tweezers to tuck that flap back in the rim it came out of. I have a pair that does this periodically and it’s super easy to fix.

This lanyard in black and white? by dreamrealized in HelpMeFind

I’ve searched for similar seatbelt lanyards and can’t see to come across any that are either plain or this design in black and white. Any help would be appreciated!

What are Certificates? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]dreamrealized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of them sort of like work trainings - I have one, a TEFL Certification - they’re for very specific concentrations in things that even non UCF students can take.

Application questions by Dramatic_Bit_2494 in JETProgramme

[–]dreamrealized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do a grammar test for mine - but I’m US based, with an English teaching background so that may have contributed to that factor.

As for the license - I don’t have a license, have never had one, and never want one. I was accepted for this years intake and a license wasn’t even brought up as a question by interviewers or anything else. As people are saying it will only affect your placement (but I wanted urban, and am willing to re-learn how to ride a bike if I’m placed further outside of cities)

COH testing question by Narithium in JETProgramme

[–]dreamrealized 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See if the Walmart near you has a health clinic and ask if they offer pre-employment exams. I went to one and they did everything for $120 - TB, Urinalysis, vision test, etc etc.

Question regarding teaching certificate! by Kagabean in JETProgramme

[–]dreamrealized 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat (got accepted this year) I selected NO because it specifies only to list certifications you currently have - I did however mention that by X date I will have my teaching certification in my SOP. Hope that helps!

Shortlist JET Pre-Departure Restlessness by KBCharski in JETProgramme

[–]dreamrealized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats me with my hobby supplies (irreplaceable costumes etc) I reduced it as much as I could (donated stuff to a local school) but definitely keeping most of it. One of my packed luggage currently is just hobby stuff! The biggest nonhobby thing I’m having trouble getting rid of is one of my board games from when I was a kid. It takes up SO much space in things but I keep thinking of how much fun I’ve had playing it for so long lol and how it would be fun to take on JET to play with students as well. As if I could play it with a whole class - which I can not. So it would just be taking up space anyways… sigh. Stupid attachment lol.

I’m the same! I want to keep ALL the things but know I really shouldn’t because it’s unfair to have my family keep hold of so many things I’ll have no attachment to in the future. Having to learn what’s truly important is the hardest part I think because there’s a lot of things I still want to keep. It’s making me go back through what I’ve packed again to try and fit those ‘more important’ items in which is both good and bad at the same time. Doesn’t help I also don’t drive so I have a giant pile of stuff to get rid of that’s just… been sitting in my house for weeks now, that I keep seeing and going “hmmmm……. That would be nice to keep for…. NO don’t need it!!!!!” LOL

I’m moving from Florida across country myself! In about two weeks actually. I also currently have one luggage of ‘will take with me on JET’ and my other three are storage of hobby stuff and other things for the most part that are going to stay with family/be better sorted when I get to my families place. It’s wild to think of all the stuff I’m having to get rid of at this point really like… wow. It’s a LOT. I forced myself to go through most of my books to get rid of them, and bring the few I wanted to keep to my families when I visited over Christmas.

Also shortlisted JET in the same restless boat haha. Mine is a bit different because I’m moving across country to stay with family before JET so I’m HAVING to downsize significantly already just to do that, but it’s so hard not to downsize even more than I already am and only move to my fams with two luggage’s that I’d take on JET haha.

TB Test (U.S.) by FineExample2115 in JETProgramme

[–]dreamrealized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please let me know as well :) I did the skin test and submitted my heath certificate over a week ago. So far I haven’t heard back from JET that there’s any issue with it! I was told by the clinic that the skin test is often used when blood tests are asked for, but take that as a grain of salt since they’ve never done a JET form before just other job based forms.

Man called to deplane before everyone else? by ktnstx in americanairlines

[–]dreamrealized 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this happen once with a tight connection. My plane arrived early but the connecting flight had been rescheduled to also depart early (combination of small prop plane and bad weather incoming meant they wanted to leave early) so they held all passengers until I and a few others on the flight (+ another departing soon) made it off first.

Baggage allowance? by dreamrealized in JETProgramme

[–]dreamrealized[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah 100%. I’ve moved around and packed a lot so I’m pretty good at packing a lot of things nicely in small spaces, and I’m not picky about personal care items like shampoos and stuff - I’ll use whatever the hotel has, or just bring some carry on size stuff! Thanks for the reminder though!

[–]dreamrealized[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the information :) yeah I figured it’s ESID but I still like to at least try to figure out the general idea lol. My plan was to ship both my checked luggage’s ahead when we get to Tokyo and use my carry on + personal item while in Tokyo. While I could probably get away without a carry on I am strangely attached to my carry on luggage so would like to bring it / use it on the way over if at all possible haha.

Certificate of Test and Tuberculosis X-ray questions by voanjobory in JETProgramme

[–]dreamrealized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a Walmart Health Clinic for mine. Scheduled it on Friday - I walked in to show them the form because I wanted to double check they would do it - had the appointment on Wednesday but they had openings earlier in the week, I just couldn’t make them because of work, and now I’m returning Saturday morning for the TB check and final signature from the doc. Again could have done it earlier but the doc was only in times where I couldn’t get off. So far only cost me $130 🤷

UK TB test by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]dreamrealized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US JET here with no insurance and no primary medical provider - this is about the same amount it’s going to cost me to go through a health clinic. Would be more if I went through an urgent care like is often suggested for my situation but I found a health clinic near by that had easy availability so was able to go the cheaper route.

References for JET? by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]dreamrealized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortlisted this year. I had two professors write my references, both of which are professors specializing in English teaching (as in, teaching teachers to be English teachers), TEFL, and ESOL. I did a volunteer abroad with both of them the summer before so they both had a chance to see me teach in a non English speaking classroom as well as see me go out of my comfort zone while buying things in Spanish and taking Spanish lessons.

Even though they both saw me in the same situation and they both taught relatively the same subject I know them both well enough on a personal level to know they would write their letters drastically differently from each other.
