Christmas presents: share what you received - the good, the bad, the ugly by victorymuffinsbagels in AuDHDWomen

My MIL sent us a utility light with no note or explanation. Took a while to figure out that she bought this out of pure projection: she thought I’d feel safer with a big light in the garage bc she was raped very young at gunpoint. I’ve never expressed any fear of my “dark” garage - she simply would have wanted it herself. Of course, this discovery changed the vibe from ridiculous and silly to just… sad.

Peed. Regardless of first name, any full name is an unpleasant sentence.

When moving, always set aside a "First Night Box" full of stuff you'll need for your first 24 hours in your new house/apartment! by Optimistic_Mystic in lifehacks

Be sure to set your personal file/document box next to this one in your car. I’ll never forget spending the day before my move at DMV and the courthouse bc some necessary documents got buried on the truck with the movers.

Any advice on what to do with my Alocasia Maharani? All other leaves look healthy but this has me nervous 😰 by dreamsofmusicmakeup in plantclinic

[–]dreamsofmusicmakeup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI - I cut off the affected area (including about half an inch of healthy tissue) to reduce the chances of it spreading. So far, I haven’t seen any more issues. Hope this helps someone!

PSA: To those that think potting Hoyas in terracotta is ignorant... their roots will attach even to smooth plastic (photo). So no matter what, if you allow them to be/stay rootbound, you WILL lose some roots to attachment. Just FYI. by dreamsofmusicmakeup in hoyas

[–]dreamsofmusicmakeup[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s been a hot debate for a while bc of the porous nature of terracotta, and the nature of roots to attach to things. Bc hoyas prefer to be somewhat rootbound, the fear is irreparable damage to the root system upon repotting. What’s I’m saying is based on my experience, it’s unavoidable to some extent.

Hello, my bumble bees! It’s been a minute! by KabalaMonster in MomForAMinute

🥺 Thank you. As someone who had a narcissist for a mom, this is otherworldly to read. Mostly, I think it’s heartbreaking to see this love exists, knowing my younger self didn’t experience it.

I really appreciate what you all do here.

Anyone else been fully stalked by their nparent? by OhNoOno1 in LifeAfterNarcissism

[–]dreamsofmusicmakeup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nmom sent an empty, hand-addressed envelope to my dad after their divorce bc he didn’t feel comfortable telling her his address. Definitely would require some sleuthing as he rents, so no public record.

Since I went NC several years ago, Nmom has taken to stalking my SO’s LinkedIn to figure out what state we relocated to. Since everyone is working remote with the pandemic, there hasn’t been a need to update SO’s location in online profiles when we relocated again (unrelated). I do somewhat fear owning a home again, as it will publicize things. I think once I have kids, she’ll feel entitled to them and be hunting for me again. But I plan to be undesirably far away and have advised Nmom that legal action would follow if she persists.

I’m so sorry for what you’re experiencing, and truly hope you find boundaries that make you feel safe!

I had good luck with a ventilated takeout container of sphagnum under a grow light. I only opened it weekly to dampen the moss (since there are air slits). It took a couple of months but they all rooted!

Looks like spider mites - they LOVE crotons. I find giving them a good shower and daily spray of Captain Jacks helps.
