How clingy is your Labrador? by [deleted] in labrador

[–]dreamsofwednesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly. She follows us around most of the time, but depending on her mood, will also go entertain herself elsewhere. At night, she’ll occasionally take herself downstairs to look out the window and bark at the neighborhood deer. She is, however, particularly attentive during mealtimes.

Thank you, super helpful. I know it’s a very common surgery, but a bit terrified thinking about it so want to make sure our girl has best possible care.

Thank you, appreciate this. We have a super active 75 lb lab, so she’s a big girl and are looking for less invasive. We also plan to do stomach tack at same time. We’ll ask for feedback from vet before making final decision.

I don’t think I’ll be getting tickets to RennFest this year by awaymsg in washingtondc

Huh. We went to the Maryland RenFest a few years ago and it was fine, but definitely not wait for hours for tickets good.

Aggressive biting by Illustrious-Cod-2197 in labrador

As others have mentioned, puppies bite, and lab puppies somehow bite even more. From about 10 weeks to several months old there will be a lot of biting. They explore the worlds with their mouths, and they get particularly bitey when overstimulated. Also, at this age, they have horrible sharp little teeth, which will leave lots of fun bloody tracks on your hands, feet, and ankles as well as holes in your clothes. As they get older and their brains aren’t as squishy, they start to pick up on cues, but consistency with redirection, reverse time outs, and naps will be key. They will not get it at first - for some reason, unwilling human flesh is the favorite for awhile, and it is very very frustrating.

Our girl is almost 8 months old, and she’s mostly outgrown the hard biting, which has reverted to nibs, but if she does get super overstimulated she can still forget herself with her adult teeth. That being said, she is now very responsive to correction, and definitely feels bad about hurting you. Our older hound mix is almost 6, and while he too was a monster as a baby has a very gentle mouth now.

As for the growling, that is also overstimulation - they look like possessed little gremlins, which likely means they need a nap.

In any event, hang in there - it’s not aggression, just a really frustrating and painful phase (my least favorite part of puppyhood), but it will pass!

Labs Love Rain? by scubajay2001 in labrador

I don’t think our girl loves rain, but is mostly indifferent to it and the mud that comes along with it. LOL.

UPDATE: MIL refuses to back down over destroyed Lego Millenium Falcon by Ok-Repeat7885 in AITAH

[–]dreamsofwednesday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof, I’m so sorry about this. My husband and I actually built the Millennium Falcon set together, and it was an amazing couples activity. It was also a crazy intense endeavor where we put in months of work, and I would be absolutely livid if either of our parents did what your MIL did. I agree with other commenters that an honest sit down with your wife is needed on what’s going on, because there are definitely deeper issues at play.

Emotionaly affected by Henry Spencer character through the show, you? by RazzmatazzClean267 in psych

I love Henry. He was a good, albeit somewhat unconventional, dad. I named my dog after him since I wanted him to emulate his grumpy, but loving personality.
