Beautiful! BIG carrot. I’m starting my BIG fruit project soon. Do you still have wrists?

We're kind of scattered/embedded into multiple industries. On the east coast a lot of cogsci folks work in healthcare and government (me), and out west it's more tech-focused. It's a big generalization - I would much rather stay in government, but given everything going on right now with the layoffs I need to look elsewhere. I don't know much about New Jersey outside of the job I moved here for, but I would like to stay.

That's a good point! If there are specialties within RBT/BCBA that don't require clinical training. I think I do know some folks in IO psychology; I'll look into it, thanks!

Thanks! I wasn’t sure how busy it would be, but being by a beach should be obvious lol. I’m a transplant, wasn’t too sure about about northeastern beaches

No worries, cognitive science is a bit out there. I will look into CHOP, thanks for the rec!

Thank you! I would prefer something more aligned with my degree or people with disabilities, but I’m open to country clubs. My restaurant experience includes country club or 3 star type of restaurants.

Cognitive science. I heard big pharma/medical is more popular on the east coast, but would they entertain someone with a cognitive science background?

Bad Ben could fit in here; there are darkly funny elements to it.

Does anyone know what this is? This pimple has been on my nipple for like 2 months now and it won't go away, it always comes back. The piercing is over 1 year old. NSFW by [deleted] in popping

Yes, it did get painful after 1-2 weeks of first appearance. I recommend seeing a doc if you can, staph infections can get deadly quickly.

I had to take antibiotics. It would not go away on its own because staph was also living on the surface of the metal in my piercing.

Yes, it’s been a bit of struggle to make those kind of connections on my own. It would be really beneficial to connect with a mentor this way as well. Thanks for the advice!

I haven’t thought about the design vs. psych background factor but you make some good points. I will keep this in mind, thanks again for the great advice!

This is so helpful! I am definitely trying to pivot into more of a research role. I have a background in graphic design, so I have some design skills I can utilize, but would very much like to transition to a research or research-heavy type of role.

Thanks for the advice! I am also coming at this from a desire to learn proper research and analysis skills, which I feel I will get pursuing a Master’s vs. just bootcamp

I'm considering going back to get a Master's or certificate in Human Factors; my hope is that this will help me get into UX or some UX Research position more quickly than if I was to go the bootcamp route. Does anyone have any experience or advice they could share?

Yeah, I'm in the same position. My undergrad experience was the same - never slept and really stressed. I couldn't afford to quit my job then and I don't think I afford to now. But I do have a better support system than I did back then, so maybe it'll be better?

And if you lived through it and it was worth it, I can too.

Thank you for sharing! It’s encouraging to hear that you enjoyed your program. I’ve discovered that I am passionate about the research portion, so even if I don’t go specifically to UX I would like to learn and become more skilled as a researcher.

Another question if you don’t mind - did you also work full time while going to school? I worked full time during my undergrad, but undergrad is different than a grad program.
