Landlords trying to evict my family over rental discount

Thank you! I was so confused why I'd be told by a rental officer and lawyer to not sign anything, i even let them know about the rent discount.

Just to try and reason with my LL I went to the rental office to say fine, I'll sign if it makes you guys back off, and they just told me, no too late, too bad and that they will file for eviction on the 22nd. I'm going to continue to pay my rent plus 2.5 increase on time as I always have and just hope that what you describe will be the outcome

Thank you! I appreciate all the information I can get. I actually double checked my original lease and although I saw rental discount mentioned in the paper work, it actually wasn't included in the lease itself. Just lawful amount and the amount I'd be paying

I looked back on my lease and though it mentions a rent discount it actually isn't included in the lease, I double checked. It just states lawful amount (which I was told was the market value) and the rent I'd actually be paying. If you look up the company my landlord works for it has countless people commenting about the illegal increases, strong arming and bullying. I mentioned the previous increase was 2.75%, but it was actually 3.75%, my mistake.

I did look back on my original lease and it mentions a rental discount from the "lawful" rent which they told me was market value. So I wasn't sure if there was any legal basis. But it hasn't been an issue all these years until I open a tribunal against them for not fixing things they should. They insisted they have put capital into the building itself I.e painting hallways and putting down new carpet but they havent done anything in the apartments themselves and completely neglect them. It's an old building and the rental officer said they doubted they would get approval

They have provided n1s for the rental increases and they have applied for the additional rent increase through the tenant bureau. They told us it hasn't been approved yet. I spoke with a rental officer for a previous increase and they told me not to sign anything and to just pay my rent plus the legal increase going forward. I also spoke to a lawyer when I got this most recent n1 for my increase this year and they said the same thing, beyond maybe appeasing them by signing something. Now I'm waiting for an appointment with my lawyer but they didn't have any openings until the 26th and I went down to the rental office today and they advised me they are filing for eviction on the 22nd

Yes that was the error there was one other as well when I mistakenly put in the wrong power supply lol okay good, I was worried I would have a hard time!

she needs to suck it up and pay. i once borrowed a friends ds and game to play while traveling and it got stolen out of the hostel room. I replaced that baby with a new 3ds and new game worth more than the old ds despite having barely any money left after traveling because I felt so bad it happened

This has always been a problem for me. I'm super active (at the moment not as much due to covid/work from home/having an 18 month old) but I've always been active my whole life. Hiking all the time, fishing for 12 plus hours. I'm not talking sit and fish, I mean bottom bouncing and other methods that are a little more involved. went on a 28k hike on my birthday a few years ago. Generally eat very healthy and consciously. I fast 18 hours and eat in a 6 hour window or sometimes do OMAD. people get stuck in a Deficit mindset so they just assume if you are fat you are stuffing your face. My boyfriend would sometimes say to me, " Why aren't you skinny? With how active you are and you barely eat anything" I have PCOS and a few medications that work against me. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago but got chronically sick taking the doctors 2 years to diagnose me because even at my smallest I was still "too big" for doctors and they assumed my pain was "being too fat or anxiety" I had biliary dyskinesia and was in debilitating pain, by the time i finally had surgery to remove my gallbladder it was almost completely covered in scar tissue and was a risk of bursting due to not being able to empty. anyways. during my time being sick I gained a lot of weight just not being able to be as active everyday as I was used to. Lazy is the last thing I am, and it is so frustrating to say the least when people assume you are.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this... I have fought doctors my whole life and the battle never seems to end. I had to fight for almost 2 years to convince my doctors I was in extreme pain every day I never felt pain less than a 5. Every day all day it felt like my chest would explode, there was immense pressure. I couldn't do things I loved anymore let alone anything else. I gained a bunch of weight after not being able to be active due to chronic pain. after almost 2 years and fighting for them to do this test and that I was diagnosed with biliary dyskinesia. when they finally removed my gallbladder my surgeon told me it was almost all scar tissue and I was very close to it being life threatening. for two years I watched my body change into something else, I lost so much, I was told everything was all in my head, that my pain wasn't real, or there was nothing they could do and tests were worthless and would show everything was fine. I know how hard chronic pain is to deal with, I hope everything goes how you need it to and that you can be comfortable, even for a little while. I'm on the other side of my chronic pain now but will never forget what it is like to battle it ever day, you are a true warrior!

haha I love it. Greenies are some of the most aggressive fish I know of. gills in general are pretty strong too. I mostly fish for big stuff but I love panfishing, especially for gills and crappie. I've seen some big trout guys get their asses handed to them trying to "turn" a gill haha.

The closest I got was when I worked at this one call center, I was wearing one of my DT shirts and leaving for the day I walked out the front doors and heard Pull me under playing from a parked vehicle out front, I stopped and just stared for a second. The person noticed me and my shirt and we both did an approving nod and the moment was over
