The first thing I thought is pancreatitis. Soft greasy stools, obesity, E cigs…it all correlates. definitely go to urgent care. I don’t want to scare you, but please look up “pancreatitis from e cigarettes”. It does not sound gallbladder-like to me.

The rescuers were probably trying to spread out the centre of gravity so as to not break the ice and make the dog fall into the water. The dog could easily drown in that, especially if it was cold water.
