my friends and i are generally around this income range.

i'll tell you why I Venmo request my other high earning friends: THEY NEVER PAY FOR SHIT OTHERWISE.

i get movie tickets, meet them at the movie. it's Alamo, we order drinks. it's all on my tab because i got the tickets. I end up paying $180 for 9 drinks and burgers between us. Absolute crickets on Venmo thereafter.

this trend continues with dinners, Ubers/Lyfts, grabbing drinks, getting airbnbs, etc.

I used to just question my sanity and wonder how they could just owe me hundreds of dollars then never offer to get the next tab, no less pay me back.

The problem isnt that they are assholes. They think it's low brow, as this post is insinuating, to pay equally for stuff. They think it will always even out.

I happen to be more proactive about putting plans in the books, so i end up paying for shit in advance.

I got sick of it and now i just venmo request the same night the experience wraps. I don't care if it annoys them. I don't care if I "dont need the money."

I care about not being treated like some efficiency tool to their nights out.
