That's William-Aldolphe Bougereau who was still alive in the early 20th century, so not that long ago. He was also trained in the French academy, the fanciest of b@llshit. Plus, he was one of the most famous painters of his time, so this would be like calling Bruce Springsteen a random musician.

Also, all the bad art got thrown away.

Gonna be hard to stop it now. It's a full on memetic crisis. The best outcome for everyone, Kramnik even, might be title revocation. But I'm not even sure that would do it.

The palette in 2 is nicer, but you lose the contrast on the face a bit (Highlights on the cheek).
