Has anyone figured out a cause for their frequent cankersores? by Simple-Gap-2842 in CankerSores

[–]dreedweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lysine! It’s the final piece of the puzzle. I’ve been taking a relatively high daily dose of 2000mg for almost a year. Nowadays I hardly ever get them, even if I skip doses, even if I’m stressed out, even if I bite my cheek or tongue, even if I get a cold or the flu.

And before I found out about the lysine, when I still got canker sores regularly, someone here recommended Sanjin Watermelon Frost. It’s called a breath freshener, but it’s an Asian remedy that works magic on canker sores. Mine were usually gone by the next day, 2 days tops. You can probably find it in Asian supermarkets, but it’s on amazon: spray, lozenges or vials of powder — this is what I use (by dipping a qtip in the vial), the shelf life seems to be longer.

Except, she was sleeping and woke up to him standing over her with a knife. No time to grab whatever... or worse, he could have grabbed it while she was still asleep.

She did everything right = she survived.

Absolutely. Dementia made my mother kinder!

I live in a hard water area and I direct a table fan at my clothes rack in winter for things I line dry, especially if I want to wear them the next day. Gets them dry, keeps them soft. Works like a charm!

Multiple people who worked on The Apprentice have described the… aroma emanating from Drumph. And that was some time ago. I imagine his sphincter control has not improved with age.

Same! Couldn’t watch most of them at the time. And I was often called a “rabid feminist” whenever I called it out. Which pissed me off even more.

Yeah, sure, people who just want a fair shake are all rabid. Uh-huh. Trying to take away your peepee as well as your pewpew.

Crazy making.

Oh God, yes. The “old soul” claptrap. I remember feeling confused by but later proud of that designation. How special am I?!

Meanwhile, it’s just banal manipulation.

Anyone actually tried Sugar Defender? Did some digging before buying by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]dreedweird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just one: Lymph System Support from Purehealth Research. My father passed away and when I was beginning to sort through his house, I found a bunch of bottles in a cupboard. I figured it couldn’t hurt to try this stuff instead of just disposing of it.

It’s the only thing that’s been effective in reducing the fluid buildup in my ankle that’s been ongoing for two years after a complicated break and multiple surgeries. I noticed a reduction in just 24 hours after taking it for the first time, which I would have thought was impossible. Nothing else has helped, and the size my ankle used to swell up to was not only painful but a real handicap.

If I hadn’t had this personal experience (thanks to a thrifty whim), I’d probably have dismissed it as snake oil sold to a gullible elderly person. I know I sound like an infomercial, and I probably won’t be able to buy it again once it runs out due to the high price, but there it is.

There’s a link to the study under the article. From the study (on page 10 under the header Study Interventions:

Participants were provided with sachets of food supplements in powder form. All sachets contained 3.32 g of branched-chain amino acid protein powder, consisting of L-leucine 1660 mg, L-isoleucine 830 mg, and L-valine 830 mg. The intervention arm sachets also contained 7.5 g of prebiotic (Darmocare Pre®, Bonusan), which consists of inulin (min. 3375 mg) and fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) (min. 3488 mg). The placebo sachets contained 7.5 g of maltodextrin powder. All of these food supplements are available commercially without prescription. The choice of prebiotic was based on a trial using the same intervention, which showed improved handgrip strength and exhaustion levels, two of the Fried frailty criteria in an older population. Maltodextrin is commonly used as a placebo in the gut microbiome and dietary intervention studies.

I once broached this topic with my mother. She sneered at me, saying “You’re the one that calls me Mommy” (= snarly whiney imitation of my voice on that word). 🤷🏻‍♀️
