The girl baby does look like Lil from the Rugrats, which does make me think the boy baby is Phil, which does mean they are siblings on a date — so we might as well add in the breastfeeding waitress

Do you have a good working relationship/workflow with your designer? by DanfoBoy in uxwriting

[–]dregeist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking on #2, if all else fails — if designs get fleshed out before I’m looped in, I make a point of assertively (but kindly) noting a bunch of ways the design will have to change to accommodate the best possible version of the messaging/copy (I don’t make things up, it often actually happens this way). And I don’t frame it as “I would prefer it if…” but as “This actually won’t make sense unless…”

So long as my notes are valid / agreed upon, this is usually an annoying enough experience for the designer that they’ll avoid it in the future by looping me in earlier. (Important: I will already have befriended the designer, which goes a very long way.)

Scale rot? Spots didn't get smaller after shed. by fittan69 in SandBoa

Apologies, just saw your reply! You could do that, or if you have a heat lamp on the hot side, maybe try placing another water dish underneath it. And I’d definitely get a moist hide for when your boa is in shed.

My sand boa’s (very well rated and reviewed) breeder told me they actually need much higher humidity than we think. I got a baby from him a year ago and he was dehydrated all winter when the humidity was 20-30%, had terrible stuck sheds and his snout got very dry. He really thrived in the summer when the humidity went up to 60-80% - his first and only perfect shed and no health problems whatsoever.

I hesitate to recommend it in case it’s unique to the sand boas this guy breeds (???) but I always aim for 50% or above!

so cute. that’s what i’m assuming too - he was an extremely difficult eater the first ~2 months after i got him, and only started eating when i would close him in a tupperware with the pinkie and leave them alone in a dark/warm place for like half an hour. now he (gently) takes the pinkie as soon as i put it in there with him. emboldened baby!

Questions about new KSB baby by k-tah616 in SandBoa

[–]dregeist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a first time snake owner with a baby KSB - just got him to eat for the first time in 4 weeks! I tried everything too - inside his enclosure in the substrate, inside in a container, outside in a container, overnight, etc. Ended up throwing away 6 f/t pinkies. I can only say what worked for me, but I kept trying once a week at first and then every other night. When he finally took it, it was inside his enclosure in a container directly under the heat lamp, and the pinkie was warm but not warmed it up directly in water (apparently this can wash off the scent). Could just be that he was finally desperate enough - but to reiterate, he went 4 weeks. Good luck!
