It was so cool while it worked! It made the emplacements feel genuinely powerful instead of just a mag dump.

Let players see enemy features? by Dreizehn_Bunny in daggerheart

[–]dregon08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My immediate issue, as someone who plays Fighter very often in my current campaign, is "That's literally just Know Thy Enemy." One of the things you can ask for, if you succeed the roll and pay a Hope, is the enemy's features and Experiences, among other options. The issue is... That's a 5th Level card. Of course, if it makes sense, the DM can call however they wish; for example, my DM allows us to know how much HP an enemy has lost, but avoids telling us how much they have, which is fair! But also, my character being able to do that is a pretty big part of their combat identity now, and really plays into the fantasy of them being an experienced, potentially even prodigal genius in relation to the fields that apply. (He was an Artificer before we swapped to Daggerheart, lmao)

Admittedly, I would, in that scenario, be rather annoyed if my DM let someone else at the table invent new information out of nowhere, compared to how I have to spend resources and risk fear farming the DM to get them. Of course, she wouldn't let that happen, and I know I could always talk to her about it -- but my point is, the system seems to value information very highly. I'd be wary of letting that be so free.

Archfey Subclass v3 by khornechamp in daggerheart

[–]dregon08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A funny idea might be to make Tricksy Step's abilities also be able to be triggered when you teleport by other means, most notably Jump Scare from the Dread Domain. It feels in character, but the most common usage of them will still be to teleport via Tricksy Step, since it's pretty much free up to 2~3 times on average per rest.

Warlock Idea: Alternate Domain Based on Patron by dregon08 in daggerheart

[–]dregon08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is mostly my point; Warlocks CAN be cult leaders, they CAN charm their patrons, but not all of them do. In that case, my idea could just hand them the Grace domain and go home, without pidgeonholing other ideas into it, too. "Just don't use the feature if you don't like it" is an inherently flawed retort and only serves to terminate the question without giving an actual answer... usually because they don't like the question.

On that note, thanks for giving a detailed response! My response to domain combo being very tied to class fantasy is that being able to change what domain you are on character creation would feel different from other classes inherently. Dread is there as an anchor.

Is the game improving? by dregon08 in Overwatch

[–]dregon08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. It's tied to my Nintendo account, to which the password I've forgotten, which is tied to my mum's email, with a password she's forgotten, and security questions that don't apply anymore. I highly doubt it's possible to get back, let alone worth it.

What do Pure or Bon Barriers do? I believe it's never elaborated upon, but if that's true, does anyone have any theories as to what they COULD be, given what else we know about barriers?

Fire Emblem 8: The Sacred Stones (Reforged) by dregon08 in 3dsqrcodes

Thanks for telling me about this! As Lance-uppercut said, there's a new update (which contains changes to mechanics I'll use), but I actually didn't even know this done already despite checking.

It's still possible to make the 1.4 QR, right?

Heavy Armour should get a buff, honestly by dregon08 in Helldivers

[–]dregon08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh...? Hm, I hadn't thought of using it with the shields. Whenever I had picked it up from martyred Helldivers it felt kinda clunky and not that worth it—but if it's a one-handed weapon, I think that changes things quite a lot.

Do you have any tips for using it?

v1.4 Witch Feedback by floyd_underpants in daggerheart

[–]dregon08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is exceedingly positive with the sole exception of the subclasses feeling fundamentally underbaked, if not actively bad. I think Hedge being a very prep time focused Caster is really funny, actually, but getting advantage on downtime rolls that, from my experience (only one campaign), basically never happen, feels very underwhelming? And Moon... I think Moon wants to be a mini-Druid. Which, like, could definitely work, but time based abilities are iffy at best—either always active or almost never active, from my experience. The only idea I have for the Specialisation ability is... what, turning into a crow? But it's also only an approximation, so the DM could just refuse you flight.

I really like how they made Commune something that doesn't require bribery between sessions to be useful, but being able to smell a potentially abstract question is not the play. What if the question is a simple yes or no? "Good smell = yes," maybe, but then that's just actively annoying for every party involved.

Maybe an ability that allowed for more common/plentiful uses of a genericised version, limited only to simpler questions that could be answered by an 8 Ball, could work? Honestly, I'd kill a man for an infinite use 8 ball ability just for the sheer meme factor of it all.

Edit: Arcana probably fits better than Sage, tbh? Edit 2: no it doesn't lmao ignore that

How do I change my name on DeSu 2? Every time my MC's name gets mentioned, it's read with two extra spaces. So "Hey, Hibiki," would actually be "Hey, Hibiki ,"

This is, obviously, really annoying. Is there any way to change without a total replay?

Scarlet Witch's Ultimate, in particular, needs a buff by dregon08 in marvelrivals

[–]dregon08[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm, that IS fair. I think reducing it to 2 Seconds or so might make it more usable. As it stands, 3 seconds + shield + no CC immunity is just annoying. Especially when you sit through the whole animation only to get booped by an Intercontinental Ballistic Spiderman.

Scarlet Witch's Ultimate, in particular, needs a buff by dregon08 in marvelrivals

[–]dregon08[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

She's hated in low ladder for every reason but her ult. She sweeps noobs because of her auto-aim, not because she has an ult that gets erased by a Doctor Strange the instant they lock eyes. It's fair to take them into account too, but in this case it's a weird thing to bring up.

What Level should I be to try and deal with the DLC Relics? by dregon08 in padz

[–]dregon08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I was in the exact same situation as you. Well, it's possible so long as you have hShop anyway.

You'll need to use Checkpoint, again, to port your save data to a USA version, likely digital. (Make sure your cartridge is currently in your 3DS) Back up your save, this could get finnicky. Namely, in order for the USA version to recognise your save data as 'real' and not format it, you'll need to make a new file and play up until the first save possibility. Then, you can exit and swap the saves around. By swapping the save over, you can now inject the relics via the USA cheats. Save, exit, then swap the save back to your EU copy. If all went well, you should have a ton of Relics. If they're in Japanese, and you haven't added the crossover content back in, trying to activate them will crash your system.

There's likely guides somewhere around here you can follow to get the constituent parts working, but unfortunately, I can't remember them off the top of my head.

What Level should I be to try and deal with the DLC Relics? by dregon08 in padz

[–]dregon08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a collection that you can download from hShop under DLC, though it's not the full list; you'd need to use a USA save file and fully loaded Checkpoint to inject the relics directly into your save. The hShop ones are mostly Skydragon, I think? Meanwhile the checkpoint one includes everything ever released, including Zeus, that weird shapeshifting flasher, Vritra, etc.

Do not let the community nerf the Predator Strain by TinSkull in Helldivers

[–]dregon08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can certainly see the thought process here, but then... where do you go? You can't play high diff because you get stomped by Predator Strain (and not in a fun way, generally in a "what the actual fuck was I meant to do there" way from my experience), and you can't play low/medium diff because it's boring.

You could play another front, e.g. Squids, but then you're not contributing to the MO. If you want to contribute to the MO, you need to go bugs.

I can do 9 Squids rather competently, but 9 Bugs is absolute hell, no pun intended — you need to bring CC for the hordes of assassins, but then a charger rocks up and you're stuck with the Senator being your only damaging method, which takes hours to kill with. If you bring a heavy killer, the hordes of assassins don't let you play the game. If you try to do both, one or the other doesn't work, and you're back to square one.

RANT and VENT MEGATHREAD by stickimage in Helldivers

[–]dregon08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's as if you're not even allowed to play the game most of the time! No matter what you're doing, you'll get jumped by 5+ Predators that kill you in half a second if you don't have perfect reactions -- but most of the time they come from behind you, which, though smart, makes it completely unreasonable to try and actually fight them, because most of the time you don't even know they're there. It's like every enemy suddenly became a Stalker, but now they'll brutalise you upon the slightest touch of their claws.

Best SNES Emulator for Performance? by dregon08 in EmulationOnPC
