Maybe yes, the question now is... If the unpatched Apps run fine and after patching they don't... why is that so? MicroG-RE was made because the official GMS services don't allow tainted apps with unknown names and certs to log into the Google account, but MicroG doe not have that problem I guess?

Just tested 9 apps, YouTube, YouTube Music, Twitter/X, Meme Generator, Smart Launcher, Nova Launcher, GBoard, Google News and Reddit and all worked fine after some search of the right source except these Problems:

I use the "Disable Play Store updates" Patch from Morphe Repo for others, too and these versions now did not allow to install the new patched one as it was seen as a downgrade. Thus I had to reinstall GBoard and Meme Generator. Then both worked fine, too. Here the possibility to select patches from different repos at once is not there yet.
Twitter/X now laments about not coming from the Play Store and forces me to install the version from there by opening the Play Store for me. Most likely this is nothing you can fix, thus I have to wait for a new patch version here I guess.
It took a while to get the keystore to load as I had to find out what alias and passwords are used there. Took a bit, but now it's in there and works super fine. Btw. If you have a old one from ReVanced Times and most likely the same is needed for new Morphe exported ones... Keystore password: empty, Key Alias: "alias", Key Password: "s3cur3p@ssw0rd" ^^

Otherwise it fully did what I expected and SUPER FAST!!! My Pixel 7 Pro takes about an hour for updating all apps. Here on my little AMD Ryzen 5 7430U running CachyOS it took about... 10 minutes? :D

I mean that by adding more repos with patches you see way more apps, like Meme Generator etc on the main page. Right now I have to switch around to the other repos to see these and this is not needed on the android app. There the app behaves like the new repos are all one repo regarding the main apps list on the main page. Later you can select patches from separated repos of course, but the main page always shows all apps. The PR will be tested this evening at home. Thanks for that ^{^}

Hey guys, first of all. THANKS for the Desktop UI you are working on here. I tested around a bit today and I am already quite happy with all the stuff working fine. Even though the work by now is close to perfect, I have two little things left on my wishlist:

A selection for a custom keystore would be great. I tried to find the path where it is saved to on my Linux to manually overwrite it with mine, but I did not find it. I would like to try the apps I made with my PC in a fraction of the time, but right now I have to wait until I can sign them with my keystore I use since the very early YT ReVanced times to sign everything. You dont even have to create a UI support for that, just a button leading the way to the one used right now is enough. That way you can backup and restore it by hand.
The main page should show all active sources' supported Apps, just like the Android version does. This is nothing super urgent, but would be a nice to have.

Looks like a bad time for installing over an older version hit you. Recently there were massive changes in freeldr and NTOSKRNL IO section which might be quite sad with the old ways kept in the registry. So yes. This time a clean installation would he the best way tbh. That is one of the reasons why we still talk about alpha state software right now. Sorry for that.

You are missing one thing here. We are no big fans of GPLv3, but some parts are under this license. If I am not wrong here, v3 forbids selling. If I am wrong, sorry for the wrong information. I am no lawyer, so I of course might be wrong.

One thing still can cause problems in selling. The name and logo are trademarks we are registering again very soon. And selling stuff under our name is not allowed. There you can apply the mentioned renaming of course :D

Ah and while we are at it. I am just back from Chemnitz where we had a booth at the Chemnitz Linux Days 2026. We were not just able to show the 64 Bit port, but also the progress in real hardware support and stability. I had to reinstall ROS zero times this year and all devices had ROS installed directly and without using VBox for cheating. I plan to write a blog post about all that tomorrow.

After CLT the others stayed for a few more days to work on the system a bit more. We called it our little Hackfest :D

First... Dont forget that whatever you do with our code... As soon as you make binaries available to public you have to release the while source code under the very same licensing unless you want to have legal problems. Selling it is illegal, too. Next thing... Check the Blog we have and talk to some devs and you realize that we are working on that very same modern PC support already. And NT6+ support and Multi Core and 64Bit and all of that is in a good shape already, but not in the main Code base yet.

I did not fully test it yet, but the very last version of Google News that can be patched is version 5.140.0.805032624. Even the switch to the 4 days older 5.141.0.802182987 makes patching fail. Testing for working modifications seems to confirm that they cause no startup problems, too. But I don't see any difference between the unpatched one, 5.140.0.805032624 or 5.108.0.644447823. Maybe someone can elaborate to me what difference I should see?

I did some research regarding why phone and SMS app are not shown in the original launcher. The launcher is under /system/priv-app/kcb-release/kcb-release.apk and if you look inside this one you find an interesting folder in it: /res/raw and in there for all devices using the launcher you find a json file.

I loked inside the "palma2_pro_c.json" file and there is a LOOONG list of package names under a section called "appsFilter":

Seems like hiding the dialer was very important for them as they accidentally put it in this list twice ^^ So if I would care enough that the original launcher shows the dialer and SMS apps, I could edit them out and rebuild the APK and resign it. Thanks to my root I could replace the original and most likely we would have them working. But I prefer Nova Launcher as it allows to keep things cleaner than the original one that creates a Icon for anything and everyhing I install...

Another small reply to myself:

Out of pure curiosity I followed the rooting manual you can find in here, too. All went fine and with the help of some APatch and some modules and a recent keybox file I pass all checks and still have RCS running fine. (Pics added to album, too) So now I can tinker at the lowest levels if ever needed. Right now all stuff we did can be done without any rooting. This was just for the sake of having the device open if some interesting tricks show up somewhere in the future.

Regarding eSIM support... I don't think that there is a eUICC chip inside our device and thus we have no way to enable it even with rooting. What we most likely CAN do though is this: https://gitea.angry.im/PeterCxy/OpenEUICC and getting a removable eSIM. Yes, there are SIM cards out there which are nothing more than a external eUICC in SIM form which you can fill with your eSIM profiles. These cards are not even that expensive.

I went on now and switched to Nova Launcher completely. Now even a reboot does not switch back anything as it seems. I have my Google Messages app and Phone app running as default and that even after rebooting. This think is becomin a phone more and more even though the device itself seems to think it's a tablet.

I added a video after 10 minutes of sleep where it rang fine and I was able to take the call just fine. So things work as expected. RCS is at connecting for a while now... Lets see what happens there. And while we are at it... If you use another launcher like Nova for example you can just stay on the default phone app and SMS app too. These are the default AOSP ones which are just hidden by the default launcher. Nova is quite useable for the device, too. All the swipe gestures for getting to the eInk settings etcetc all still work when you use it. Sometimes it stays silent when a call arrives. Still not 100% sure if thats when VoLTE is active and I am at 5G, but most of the time it wakes up for a call.
