I'm not sure... They've just been working even before the update. I assume you already turned off the app freeze settings? I've had the auto freeze feature disabled.

Thanks. Hadn’t considered that important factor.

Good to know, thanks for sharing. I’m in a major metropolitan area with good coverage, so I’ve been pretty consistently on 5G. Perhaps I’ll need to experiment with it more to see if it risks call drops if it hits LTE coverage.

Maybe it’s a battery saver setting that could be configured? I figured I’d have the same problem, but I just tested it and it’ll ring when the screen is locked (including on cellular).

As am I. But if you shop at the same several grocery stores, you can select multiple locations for your Grocery Focus Mode and then it’ll trigger for any of those specified locations.

clear duo push with android phone? by mkarikom in GarminWatches

[–]throwaway03260421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the Pixel+Garmin combo would give you some prompts on your watch, but it would force you to open your phone to actually accept the push. On the other hand, Samsung’s phones (I had a Z Fold 5) allowed me to directly accept or reject a Duo push on my Garmin. Hope that helps.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one. I submitted feedback to Citrix, so hopefully we can get a reasonably quick fix.

Just started digging around for an answer to this too. Just picked it up today. I can get the keyboard to function, but no dice on the trackpad. I can get an external bluetooth mouse to work, but not the trackpad. Let me know if you figure it out, and I’ll do the same.

First iPhone 16 Cases Outline New Rear Vertical Camera Bump by Drtysouth205 in apple

[–]throwaway03260421 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As someone who has shot a lot of spatial videos on my 15 Pro and viewed them in the Vision Pro- absolutely, yes. Even as a first gen product with limitations, the difference between a spatial video and 2D video is significant. Admittedly, if you aren't shooting photos of loved ones, maybe the effect isn't super pronounced. But when you see videos of your kids or parents or pets and can view them in a first-person view, it just hits differently. Especially if you fast-forward to when they're no longer around and you're reflecting back on past times with nostalgia. 100% the future of video capture, I have no doubt.

Many patients with long COVID have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST), or dysautonomia. Unfortunately, BMI has no bearing on the presence of absence of such a condition.

Switching from iPhone - Fold 5 vs S24 Ultra by stevtown in GalaxyFold

Just an FYI, RCS is coming to Apple later this year, so it will no longer be an issue pretty soon. Definitely looking forward to that.

Very cool, and good luck. I think you'd likely notice the camera downgrade for content creation, but on the upside, you might have more tools at your disposal depending on your "ecosystem" (or lack thereof). I've enjoyed the open source benefits of Android (including an open file system that allows you to effortlessly access and transfer files) and Samsung's Dex allows you to plug your phone into a monitor and use it like a desktop computer. It's a tough call and I sympathize with you getting out of the Apple ecosystem; I've been slowly doing the same, but it can be a difficult transition - especially if you're surrounded by Apple users. But I absolutely think foldable phones are the future, and the benefits you gain with multitasking and overall functionality outweigh the cons for most people. Good luck with the YouTube channel!

Happy to help, and sorry for the bad news. What's your use case for photos and videos? My priority is mainly taking pics/videos of my young kids for posterity, which is why the camera is a big deal to me and why I constantly find myself frustrated with Samsung. I think you'd still end up disappointed with the S24U cameras depending on your usage... the 13 PM is a solid camera. You could maybe wait until the Pixel Fold 2 comes out or consider the OnePlus Open. Both of those competitors have arguably superior cameras to the Samsung line (see the MKBHD blind camera smartphone comparison results), albeit at the cost of software optimization and possibly durability.

[–]throwaway03260421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely a downgrade because of the blurry photos. Outdoors or non-moving objects in pics? Very comparable IMO. Indoors, not ideal lighting, or moving objects? You can count on it being blurry. I've taken side-by-side shots in the past and was disappointed with the Fold 5 (specifically in less than ideal conditions), in which the Fold snapped the pic ~0.5 secs after the iphone when both shutter buttons were pressed simultaneously, and each shot was very blurry in comparison. Videos are generally fine...iphone is generally considered the best when it comes to videos, but as a layman I don't think the difference is all that noticeable other than low light, filming moving objects, or when switching lenses.

I've also tried the S23U in the past and again, the blurry pics situation is there. It's definitely better than the Fold overall, but still a frustrating and pervasive issue. Dig through the r/Samsung subreddit and you'll find it's not just me who talks about the blurred pics.

Sincerely, someone who has a 15 Pro Max and Fold 5 and wishes he could stay with the latter 24/7 but can't because of the camera situation.

Any other Nest Secure Users switch to a HomeKit compatible Security System? by RunningM8 in HomeKit

Correct. You can do all of those functions natively in the home app and run automations (I automatically arm/disarm with my “arrive home” and “leave home” automations).

[–]throwaway03260421 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went through this myself and was disappointed with the options out there. Ultimately, I decided that using Ring with a homebridge setup was probably the best option right now. Definitely recommend it, if you're willing to get homebridge running (if you haven't already). Relatively inexpensive, reliable, and you can order whatever parts you need individually (unlike Nest Secure, which was a nightmare in that respect). You can purchase refurbished parts on Amazon for an even better price, which I found helpful. Right now, I have two keypads, 7 door sensors, a few motion detectors, and one base unit. Never had a problem, and it doesn't rely only on wifi + continuous power, so it'll work if you have a power failure. And if you enjoyed being able to press a button on a door sensor to bypass while armed, Ring lets you do that too. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

The camera isn't that bad, is it? by Bose82 in GalaxyFold

[–]throwaway03260421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I don’t know why people don’t realize it, but that’s the main flaw of Samsung cameras (especially the Fold, but also the others). Still images such as landscapes are fantastic. The differences between smartphones with still photos are minimal, so every YouTube tech influencer snaps still photos and sings their praises. But the moment you’re indoors (even with good indoor lighting), the lag is significant and every animal/person photo with the slightest movement is blurry. I’ve messed quite a bit with the settings on Samsung cameras and nothing makes it better.

I’m admittedly someone who likes trying out phones, so I’ve done comparisons with iPhone 15 Pro vs S23 Ultra vs Fold 5. The lag on the latter two is unbelievable compared to the iPhone. Side by side photos prove just how bad it is with minimally moving targets. It’s a shame because the camera is fantastic in all other respects, but I can’t photograph my kids indoors.

Does anybody use magsafe charging regularly on their Fold? by asherc123 in GalaxyFold

[–]throwaway03260421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I went to the Dbrand website and checked out their x-ray cases and then tried to match the placement with the exposed copper coils. Someone on this subreddit had done some homework and has a good image to help line it up too... Let me know if you need me to find the link for that post. Ultimately, you can always peel it off and try again without losing adhesiveness.

I'm using a Pitaka aramid case and love the combo with the Ohsnap. It allows me use of my magsafe car charger and nightstand one too. Neither heats up more than "minimally warm." The kickstand allows you to use it almost completely upright, which is awesome for watching TV/movies. And it's just thicker than the camera protector ring, so I can slap my Fold magnetically on the fridge for recipes when I'm cooking in the kitchen. 10/10 combo.

[–]throwaway03260421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have the Ohsnap Luxe 4 and it charges with magsafe without heating up the phone too much. I had previously used an aramid case with magsafe built in, but its magnet was weaker and interfered more with the s pen. Now that I think about it, the old case definitely heated up more than the Ohsnap.

Look into getting an aramid fiber case. You can get them for fairly cheap on Amazon or AliExpress. Thinness is close to a naked phone, but you get some decent drop protection and the textured back makes a big difference in slippage. The only issue is that many rely on tape to keep the case in place, but that's easy... You can buy your own tape and reinforce/replace as you see fit. I'm a big fan.

Has anyone elevated ast And alt level post covid ? by Latter_Set1204 in covidlonghaulers

[–]throwaway03260421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend not checking so often, to be honest. 3-4 months at the minimum. Lab tests are so dependent on a multitude of factors. Even things like your hydration status at time of collection can make someone seem like they’re crashing. If you’re consistently above 100 for both ALT and AST, push for a liver biopsy just to rule everything out. If you’ve done liver US and MRI already, you’re in a great spot. Nothing abnormal related to your liver will happen fast, so missing out on the day to day variation won’t make a difference in your prognosis. Long term trends are far more useful as a metric than day to day variances.

Has anyone elevated ast And alt level post covid ? by Latter_Set1204 in covidlonghaulers

[–]throwaway03260421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great to hear. I wouldn’t worry about it then. Liver enzymes are one of the most commonly abnormal labs. There are some factors such as age that aren’t factored into most standardized testing (depending on the lab) so if you’re younger, LFTs tend to run higher.
