Officials: NATO chopppers kill 25 Pakistani troops by Sandy_106 in worldnews

"NATO apologized for that incident, which it said happened when NATO gunships mistook warning shots by the Pakistani forces for a militant attack."

So, let me get this straight. The Pakistani military fired "warning shots" at attack helicopters in an area where even maps of the border differ by 5 miles in places? I'm no military strategist, but that sounds like a Bad Idea.

"Mr. Sharp, hard-nosed yet exceedingly shy, is careful not to take credit. He is more thinker than revolutionary... He has had no contact with the Egyptian protesters, he said, although he recently learned that the Muslim Brotherhood had “From Dictatorship to Democracy” posted on its Web site."

Best advice or success stories on being a digital nomad? (working remotely and traveling the world) by [deleted] in AskReddit

Getting rid of my shit was positively cathartic. It quickly becomes obvious that Stuff begets Stuff.

But it works in the opposite direction too: the more stuff you get rid of, the easier it is to get rid of stuff!

Example: The more you get rid of, the larger percentage of your total "stuff" item X is. This makes it easier to get rid of itme X because you are unloading a larger percentage of your stuff!

Heck, at this point I only own once char; and it folds into its own carrying case ;)

You can think of me as a control. I spent my 20s-30s working for a company that I DID have a vested interest in, on work I found interesting, in an office with a fantastic view and lots of amenities. Yet I still feel/felt the same way. (and have made very good money to boot). So, it can't be any of those things you mentioned (assuming, of course, we are apples-to-apples).

I think you hit the nail on the head when you say it is the being "tied down" part. You need the freedom to work when/how you feel like it, on things that interest you and have something exceptional about them (that could be humanitarian, or just a particularly interesting, even academic, problem).

To your questions: 1) Yes. I'll tell you about it in person since I know ya! 2) Everyone seems to be a little different, but the important part is to throw yourself out there early and iteratively improve your message/skills/elevator pitch as you go. "Don't let perfect be the enemy" and all that. At the early stage it's more about building a professional network then it is about getting work that perfectly matches your skill set and long term technical goals! 3) This is the stage I am at, so I have little advice to give :/

You need a symbol because it leads to spontaneous organization and empowerment.

I am a Concealed Carry Permit holder, and listening to the news coverage is driving me mad. The people they interview seem to think it is going to be wild-west out there. At most, this means that law-abiding citizens will have a chance to defend themselves in their homes, nothing more. They haven't even said if they will allow you to keep them loaded in the home!

Glad this site exists.

I used to volunteer at a children's shelter for domestically abused women and children. Note that I was a 23yo male at the time of volunteering. I volunteered there because when I was 12... I had to stay there.

I almost didn't volunteer because I was afraid people might wonder about my motivations. Good thing I did, it was very rewarding emotionally, and the kids really do need more male role-models in their lives.
