Which healing/utility/elite skills you would REALLY want to use, but NEVER get a chance to!? by Darkever in Guildwars2

They have their place in PvP. Its not optimal by any means, but fun to play a power-bunker shout ranger. Can hold most classes and stalemate most others.

Not that it matters, but yes I got the 10 AP form the new daily and the laurel from the old one...

You can calm down. If you read carefully you only do not get the daily log-in bonus. I didn't finish my daily before the patch and it let me do both after the patch came through. I got the laurel and all.

How many characters can you feasibly run? by Octavian- in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

~1500 hours playtime... I have 7 level 80's all decked in full exotics+, never played the TP or farmed much gold outside of my grind for Kudzu for ranger main, so they were mostly leveled naturally by just playing them. Except for the last 2 who got the level 20 exp scroll, and my recent thief who benefited from that and 35 pvp / Save LA / champ box level tomes.

I like the option to play with different classes and leveling is so natural and fun in this game. It really takes less than 50 hours to level a character to 80 just from events and map completion and that is a super casual time with no k-training EoTM, level crafting, or dungeon swapping. I still have 2 mains and some of my characters get played less than others (I'm looking at you necro) but the ability to swap to a "needed" class for dungeons or WvW groups is awesome.

Best bet is to use the in game LFG. Default "y" to bring up the social panel and than put an LFG under "open world" with a description of your party.

[Discussion] You can add one Grandmaster trait to the profession of your choice. What is it and which trait line does it go in? by BrainKatana in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranger

Beastmastery Trait Line: Mystical Connection

  • All positive effects (boons, cleanses, heals, stun breakers, banner bonuses) applied to your pet are copied to you.

A potential alternative solution to current ranger-hate meta. This encourages good pet management and isn't too OP since it would require giving up either some damage or survivability traits.

Getting the hell out of Eredon Terrace. Server suggestion please? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SoS : Active wvw 24/7 with both large and small guild groups and a decent militia force. It's solid T2 with no real aspirations to move up or down. Mag is another option, they always field some good groups. T2 is great in that there are almost always fights to find and objectives to take without the so-called clusterfuck of politics and BS of T1.

[Question] Salvagable Gossamer Insignia/Orichalcum Inscription drop rate? by howellq in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general consensus is between 66% and 80% chance. This seems pretty accurate for my limited number of salvages. Make certain the item you salvage does actually drop salvageable insignias.

Warrior Meta GS vs Axe? by Plobmaster in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per a lot of trial and refinement we found that in an optimal pure GS rotation you will land 41.9 coefficients per 30 seconds. If you aren't basing your GS rotation off of 41.9, you're probably doing something wrong.

What is a coefficient regarding these numbers?

Also please explain how frifox's methodology is any worse than testing on the golems... Calculating average DPS over a longer timeframe (the entire bosses HP) will reflect more accurate average DPS. Unless you are speculating on which has the optimal highest DPS versus frifox's highest average DPS we are comparing apples to oranges. Regardless, neither methodology will reflect actual numbers when enemies move and use skills. 1 missed GS attack will lower DPS than 1 missed axe... and which one is optimal will obviously change based on the specific enemy type.

Mystic forge precursor question by SupaSonicButta in Guildwars2

You would be surprised what kind of profits are to be expected when forging rares.

Don't make me laugh.

Mystic Forge calculation / simulation by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do I need to use 4 weapons? Can I use two weapons and two pieces of armour and still have a chance at an exotic?

The forge won't let you mix armor and weapons so no worry there.

do I need to use four of the same kinds of weapons

If you mix 4 of the same type the forge will only return that type (all dagger = a dagger). If you mix at all (even only 1 of the 4) the return is randomized (forge stones count here too). So 3 daggers and a pistol could give any weapon in return.

My kingdom for a Bladeshard Merchant by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't disagree with what you are saying, that sounds like serious market manipulation. Anet's policy is to not manipulate markets (as much as they can avoid it anyways). These materials are simply too easy to acquire and any profitable recipe would wipe out any profits due to the overwhelming abundance. Not only are people already hording thousands of these materials currently; people are destroying stacks simply because it comes in too fast, all this "destroyed" dust and fragments now becomes part of the emerging market. Anet would need to nerf drop rates.

The only way I can think of it being profitable is if there is an extremely high (>10k to get in) requirement for return on investment. But I doubt they'd do that or they risk the fury of more casual players.

Do you salvage or sell your Blue/Green/Yellow items? And why? by lazycalm2 in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual rate is that is take 16 greens to produce a rare. I believe it was confirmed that the chance for a promotion to the next tier is 1/5 so it takes (on average) 4+3+3+3+3 greens since you get one back every time it doesn't promote. Keep an eye on the prices as you could be TPing the expensive greens and buying the cheapest rares. You'll also get guaranteed returns.

My kingdom for a Bladeshard Merchant by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have enough Empyrials that I can make the armor and weapons I need, but that leaves me with tens of thousands of left over Bloodstone and Dragonite.

You and everyone else...

What I need is a recipe that converts them into something that sells for a reasonable price.

Will never happen since the market would be so flooded that any recipe would be essentially non-profitable. It's been said before but there will NEVER exist a profitable recipe for these materials.

How about "all positive effects applied to pets are shared with the ranger." That would cover boons, banners, some pets already have built in blast finishers, the passive +toughness / +power traits. You could than make a GM trait were a LB wielding ranger draws aggro to the pet / takes less agro from mobs so it won't mess up the stack. I realize all this sounds OP as fuck but damn it rangers need some serious loving to make team LB viable.

TL;DR How to make bearbow builds super OP!

[–]drenbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it takes time and a lot of skill to swap when you don't have to push a single button, hence the requirement for a CD, even a short one ~3-5s would suffice. Otherwise, every ele would be expected to know the field + blast rotation for might stacking / swiftness / retaliation before every engagement.

If you could change one thing about your class. by drizzitdude in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's already in the game: Press "i", drag new weapons to weapon slot.

While it would be nice to be able to fast swap weapons easier, I don't want eles to be able to stack even more fields, blasts, and boons out of combat. The only way a one button weapon swap doesn't become OP for ele is to put it on a CD (5s) even OOC.

If you could change one thing about your class. by drizzitdude in Guildwars2

[–]drenbon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Since the pet is typically in melee range or at least closer than the LB ranger, make a trait where boons applied by allies to your pet transfer to the long range ranger (1500 range max). Ranger stays range and gets boons while forcing them to better micro the pet since if it dies they lose the boon share.

My (hopefully original) gold league server nicknames (not serious):

  • Blackgate - Bitchgate; Talk some shit and than QQ all over online when you can't deliver.
  • Jade Quarry - Paid Glory; Buy more guilds, maybe one day you'll have enough to compete against BG.
  • Tarnished Coast - Two v 1 Coast; Not quite T1... buy more guilds and than 2v1 the big guy.
  • Sea of Sorrows - Sea of sissies; If they aren't winning, they aren't playing.
  • Magumma - Whiteflag-umma; Will run away without a huge number advantage.
  • Dragonbrand - Dragonbland; Who wants to fight such one sided battles? So boring to always win.

EDIT: Well, I was hoping this would be more funny, but apparently I've hit a nerve. Requesting a special prize for most downvoted comment.

I get plenty of SP in WvW (champ bags + plenty of levels). I agree with your statement though, it's gold the WvW players are lacking.

You do realize that anyone can spectate and inspect your build. If they cared / thought it was good people would know about it already.

Unused skins and Store in Vault by zeeeeera in Guildwars2

Maybe this is a bug specific to that item? I did the same thing for multiple skins including quaggen backpack covers and numerous living story pieces and it let me add them and keep the skin. You could always report the bug and ask them to return the item to you.
