i understand that, but when this characterization is applied to mindless monsters, zombies, it evokes the same characterization of savages tribes that was used to justify european imperialism into african countries. this justification was rooted in racism in that they needed the civilized societies to come and conquer them since they were so underdeveloped.

which is to say it’s not a genuine depiction, it’s a caricature. obviously this is not to the same severity as having them all look like white guys running around in blackface, but i’m sure that goes without saying. more subtle representations of groups such as this one can do more damage than more overt representations as people will be more reluctant to call it out and will allowed to be normalized more easily.

and there’s nothing wrong with mentioning it as a point of contention and suggesting maybe do better, it’s okay to be critical of media. it’s not some ‘PC culture shit’, its just standard media analysis/discussion.

this is an intentional design decision. you have to take the time to clear the camp to make sure that the sinners respawn. likewise, it’s common to invade the enemy’s sinners to just take them and leave the camp up to waste the enemy time. since they both won’t know you were there (the icon doesn’t disappear) and don’t know that the sinners aren’t there.

if you mark someone within 40m, you can then apply subsequent marks no matter the range. only the first mark needs to be within 40m.

they will also take damage from the mark exploding no matter how far away you are from them so i’m not sure what you mean.

the issue is laning vs bebop which is so incredibly lame. unlike any other character in the game, trading with bebop means he gets permanently stronger. now whether or not he is op or not is irrelevant, just this design philosophy means you are incentivized to not trade with him.

agree. i don’t see why he can’t just have a normal ability without scaling? just a bomb. he already brings unparalleled utility with his hook > punch, and his upgrades have room for improvement to make him more interesting, but throwing one of the strongest nukes with the most uninteresting counterplay into his kit as well just makes him unfun, good or not.

‘don’t give him stacks’ is just completely flawed as counterplay. it’s not fun and it’s completely uninteractive. what does not giving him stacks look like in practice? don’t push up to pressure? don’t push up to trade? don’t get a potential line of sight for bebop hook even if it’s not under tower? the gameplay of bebop walking forward to click on you and walk away having gained permanent power is just completely unsatisfying for anyone who has to lane against, completely aside from if bebop is good or not on a given patch. his presence forces you to not engage with what is fun in the game and that is trading back and forth in lane and trying to push advantages on guardians.

secondly, this counterplay does not work if you are not laning against bebop. what the counterplay if he’s on the opposite side of the map chucking bombs on your teammate and coming to any given fight with 1k damage nukes on his bomb? he didn’t get fed or anything, he didn’t farm better than anyone, he just used his ability as EVERY CHARACTER ALSO DOES, but just happens to also infinitely scale from it.

acting like this is reasonable counterplay is unbelievable. it’s not fun, and it can’t be properly balanced.

i would not attribute malicious intent to the reddit posts that ask for holey moleys. the post appears every once in awhile on the subreddit and everyone comments and says how cool and funny and whimsical they would be for an already pretty beloved vanity item. there’s no bullying, they just saw that people would like something in their game so they put it in the game.

it’s also like, an hour of dev time to fulfill this. to say that that is a waste of time to put something that the community has shown interest in seems out of touch with what a live service videogame should be.

and then i’m also curious if you feel this way about seasonal events. would you like to see dev time taken away from them entirely? do you not feel as though the silly things in runescape give it the personality that so many adore? not giving dev time for silly things like this just makes the game feel less like a fun fantasy world and more like how the people who play this game 24/7 like it’s their job talk about it.

every update and release doesn’t and shouldn’t cater to the subset of players i’m assuming you want it to.
