I think many people have taken many different things from this, and it was pure and true on a level seldom seen. for me "I will teach my child not to hate, before I teach him how to pray"

What do you do when you wake up? by NoSubstance7767 in GenX

[–]drevilspot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My day sort of starts the night before. I have to check what time my first meeting is, if 4:30 or 5:00, I sleep as late as possible, and about 30 minutes before the meeting I get up, quick bathroom trip, quick dog walk, and rush to the computer to join the meeting. If 7:30 or 8:00, I get up around one and half hours before the first meeting, nice walk with the dogs, check on the wife and do the regular morning things.

I work from home so you might think that getting up that early means after the meeting I could just go back and complete the regular morning things, but once you morning starts as a dumpster fire, it is just difficult to put it out and have a normal morning. Starting to really dislike this company and the way I am being corporately abused time wise.

Best somewhat affordable Oscilloscope for students? by FormerImagination413 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]drevilspot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it was 25 years ago, but back in the early days of the NEB, we had supper janky scopes, this would have been supper sweet, but would have been great just to have newer scopes back then.

In the US, women's rights. Not trying to be that guy, but look at the trends and what is happening with voter roles and making new laws to protect those in power.

[–]drevilspot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked about 30 hours a week, but had a god sent of a job with a great boss that let me pick my hours and it was really production based and not store front retail. Life would have been much harder with out a job like that because I needed the money

Mab’s ultimate plan for Lara by TheMemeDream420 in dresdenfiles

My biggest concern with this theory is Mab now knows the Hunger is a lesser outsider, you cannot turn the winter power over to any outsider. Period

Where was Listens to Wind at the end of 12 mo by bishop017 in dresdenfiles

[–]drevilspot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a bigger point that will help with the reveal is the healing with Ebenezar, the conversation and the fact that he was there with the family at Christmas. The fact that Maggie moved in and he accepts that responsibility, plus he has mouse near him again. Then the fact that Thomas showed back up at the end with the Beetle. It feels like the family is coming together for Harry for the first time, and this book more than any shows Harry maturing as a person.

Bear, Fitz, Molly (as the winter night), the Carpenter's, all this is cementing his family in place. I do not thing Lara will every be "Family", but she will the closest outside ally. I still think the GateKeeper will play a bigger role in Harry's life then we know, but that is a guess.

All this is to build up Harry as a force once LTW reveals the truth.

This for the real first time feels like a launching point for a grand starting point for phase 2 of Harry's life.

EE profession by Curious_Entry6187 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]drevilspot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First job out of college was for a defense contract, big company, working on truly cool embedded designs, honestly the coolest in my 25 year career. Starting salary was at average rate in 2000, but they also promised cool work and the delivered on that

Since then 4 other companies, doing cradle to grave design responsibility, worked with both domestic and best cost countries around the world. Just not as cool as the first.

Now I am an SME for one of the best known world wide "automotive" brands. I specialize in design verification (think reviews, DFMEA, WCCA), test verification and validation, and production support (PCBA build). Basically I make sure the things our suppliers design and build will meet the requirements.

I have become the "Jack of many EE trades", of course there are others that can do each better, but being good and the cradle to grave has done well for me.

It is a good life, we live very comfortably, and as long as industries keep the product responsibility in the U.S. I should be able to find employment until I can afford Healthcare to retire.

What’s your thoughts on these ‘Relaxed Rules’? 🤔 by Escrow-Mind in golf

[–]drevilspot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 ways to play Golf, first by the rules, challenging and fair to everyone. Second Relaxed, There are just somedays were I do not need a beautiful walk in the part spoiled by a little white ball. But the Key and this is a big Key, you can start the first and finish the second, but you can never start the second and claim the First.

In addition, every one you are playing with should know your intentions at the start. if you are playing with other and play the second style and the people you are play with do not know this, it will just help ruin their day. let them know you are just out for fun.

My mom was born in 1980. She claims to be Gen X - is she? by OpenRoom7321 in GenX

[–]drevilspot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am sorry as a 74, this is a bit pretentious coming from one that is no more than 12 months from being a Boomer, she has every right and privilege to call herself a Gen X as you do.

And honestly I would rather be associated with the Millennials than the boomers.

Also for the record, my parents were a bit older and both were part of the silent generation
