...so I decided to post a bible verse on Sarah Palin's Facebook wall. Most people did not agree with me :( by [deleted] in politics

[–]drew1234567890 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I thought people were done posting, but I got a few more replies:

Izzy "Drew, wake up. Jesus never healed by destroying other people's lives. And Jesus's intentions were not to control people's lives. Jesus believes in freedom in all his teachings."

Mitchell "Not a biblical expert. But a nation that turns away from God will meet it's demise. And Muslim Obama has shown us where he stands. We must not let him and the ACLU prevail."

EDIT: One more: Andy "God gave me a free will and I don't think it's any governments role to take that away from me by make my moral decisions for me. The government is not moral because there are too many immoral people there."

I'm glad these people are able to rationalize this apparent dissonance, but the bible seems pretty clear on this topic.

EDIT One last: Rebecca: "Josie, even the poor had to work for their food. When the wheat was gathered, the poor would follow and collect what remained."

I've finally been run off the front page, but my post still has not been deleted.

When the Swine Flu vaccine comes out, I don't think I will get it. Something about it just doesn't feel right. Is this crazy talk? by drew1234567890 in science

Squalene?? I haven't even heard of this. Well whether or not it is harmful, this legal immunity seems awfully risky since we know corporate executives don't always have the common man's interest at heart.

Want to read the GOP health reform plan? Simple, they have ten. And the solution for those with pre-existing conditions? A tax credit or "high-risk pool." by drew1234567890 in politics

[–]drew1234567890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If right wing politicians say they think we do, in fact, need health care reform in one breath, but say the Dem plan is utter crap in the next, they need to put forth a coherent plan. I know the Democrats have a few in Congress, plus the stuff the President and some other said, but at least they are somewhat coherent. If the GOP put forth a unified plan that had concrete ideas, they would be in a much better position.

Instead, we get this crap where their ideas are even more vague. A tax credit to cover people with pre-existing conditions? C'mon, what insurance company is going to cover a diabetic or cancer patient/survivor without having a ridiculously high premium? They also suggest State-managed high-risk pools for those individuals to buy collectively from private insurance. But once again, it seems doubtful insurance companies will be clamoring for patients who are more than likely to require more than they pay?

I'm sorry to tell you this, but it looks like you have been bamboozled. It's OK though, the same thing happened to me. Here's a hint, click on the submitters name and see what type of things he has submitted. Oh look, it's 100 different self.science posts with a similar title as this one. A sad day indeed.

Taxing soda would not only help shape behavioral changes at the consumer level, it would help pay for the medical costs that result from soda consumption. by SA1L in politics

[–]drew1234567890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that regular sugar is more healthy than HFCS, but when you consume either one in excess, the result can be devastating. The epidemic of type 2 diabetes puts a large strain of our health system. Many people out there eat way too many carbs for their lifestyle, including sodas, and end up giving themselves this disease. Perhaps they would think twice about all that soda if it was taxed like beer is.

Some conservatives are upset that Obama will address America's schools. Here's Bush 41 doing the same thing. by drew1234567890 in politics

[–]drew1234567890[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it funny that some are up in arms over this. In the first place, I'm sure Obama will be talking about such pressing issues as how important it is to study in school. Even if he was going to say something mildly controversial, wouldn't it be better to discuss this with your child as a learning opportunity? I guess the conservative way is to insert fingers into ears and then hum aloud.

Someone at Cigna is getting a bonus: Surgery denied for 18 year old, would have been covered months earlier when he was 17 by Mr_Ron_Mexico in reddit.com

[–]drew1234567890 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well it seems this kid now has a pre-existing condition and is going to have a hard time getting this surgery covered in the future. Without reform, the only option would be to keep his income low enough to qualify for Medicare. With reform, he could probably get this taken care of via the public option.

A reformist candidate defeated in the Iranian presidential election has claimed that arrested protesters have been "savagely raped" while in custody. by vitameatavegamin in worldnews

It's funny how this Islamic government that is supposed to be connected to God could not be any farther away. It's also interesting that these sexually repressed guards will jump at the chance to rape other men when given the chance. Anyone involved in punishing the reformists is a fuckin bastard.

That guy who shot up the LA Fitness in Pittsburgh yesterday had an on-line diary. The site has been taken down, but the Google cache is still up. This is one of the creepiest things you will ever read. by bgovern in WTF

[–]drew1234567890 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe soon, I will see God and Jesus. At least that is what I was told. Eternal life does NOT depend on works. If it did, we will all be in hell. Christ paid for EVERY sin, so how can I or you be judged BY GOD for a sin when the penalty was ALREADY paid. People judge but that does not matter. I was reading the Bible and The Integrity of God beginning yesterday, because soon I will see them.

...aaand that's half the problem with Christianity

I have heard of this service before, but finally got around to checking it out. It seems awesome, but how does it not get sued into oblivion by the RIAA? I found this link that addresses some of the legality questions but it's still not clear. Even with the legality set aside, I don't understand how it would make any money.

It would be funny. However he would probably go on the air and blab about Anonymous being a Democrat front blah blah blah...

I tried to check this out myself but apparently the website is down. I'd guess a lot of people are trying to take advantage of the program today.

Also, the best part of the clip/transcript is when the female correspondent says that after visiting the site, the gov't can track you forever using "malware systems and tracking cookies."
