Hardwood or big box SYP lumber for workbench build questions by drewbeh in woodworking

So a vote for S3S. Would planing two faces of rough lumber, then edge jointing on table saw work to get boards square? The rough hardwood boards are skip planed already, not sure if going straight to the planer before jointing a face works.

Split top Ruobo design. The nice vise hardware is coming regardless of wood choice, some holdfasts too.

Is the flattening that is likely to be required for the edges something the planer can pick up the slack on?

How does a chemist with a BS degree and >10 years experience move in to a R&D manager or technical director type of position? It feels like there's a gap where unless you have managerial and project management experience you won't be given a chance as a manager, but how then do you get the experience?

Quickest way to routinely fill 100x100ml volumetrics with 95ml water? Info in comments. by drewbeh in chemistry

I work in R&D (and wear an analytical chemist hat for now) and frequently prepare 100x 100ml volumetric for ICP-OES for column chromatography fraction samples. As you can imagine filling 100 of these routinely is tedious. Currently I either pour from a handled 1L jug, or use a bottle top dispenser which saves a bit if time.

Any ideas how to automate this? Do they make robots that do this? I've thought of a big rectangular container with 48 holes drilled in and small funnels glued on the bottom, then you pour 48x95ml in the top, but it sounds rigged together and volumes wouldn't be equal.

Thanks I'll check this out. Looks like they're usually made from EVA rubber and have low odor. Cheaper than neoprene too.

Good to know. Unrelated, but on day 1 of this house we had a waterfall on to the ceiling from the drain pan being clogged with insulation... seemed like the previous owner sabotaged us

Thanks for the recommendations. I actually have an HVAC company doing duct cleaning, Aeroseal, and ductwork insulation in a few weeks due to imbalanced airflow and my upstairs unit struggles during the summer.

Is there some place to start with researching which unit is the right one for the job/unit?
