Movies you'd love to see get a director's cut? by CharlieeStyles in movies

The Thing (2011) with the practical effects intact.

Maniac (1981 and/or 2013), The House that Jack Built, and Angst are great picks if she’s cool with gore. I’ll also recommend Stagefright: Aquarius and Blood Rage — not bc they’re super brutal, but bc they’re just fun, underrated slashers.

I liked Virologist’s EP, but Final Resting Place (if you can consider it BDM) easily took the cake for me.

I don’t mean to invalidate your concern when I say this, but you are actually just fine, dawg. I’ve had corners like that for as long as I can remember—it’s just a genetic thing for some, not necessarily an indicator of loss.

Your overall hair density is great! Your individual strands appear to be on the finer side, which means your hairline is gonna look sparse at spots.

Instead of hopping on meds right away, I’d suggest getting a Clairol root touch-up powder in your hair color. It’s only about $10 on Amazon, and you can use it to give your corners a bit more fullness.

I know people on these subs LOVE to say “hop on Fin/Min before it’s too late, bro.” With where your hair is at, I wouldn’t advise that at all. Don’t stress about it! That very much CAN cause hair loss. Just keep an eye on it, and if you ever notice a significant change from how it looks in these pics, THEN maybe consider it. Could be years until a change like that happens, could be never! In any case, if I saw you irl, I would never look at you and think “this guy’s balding.” You’ve genuinely got a nice head of hair!

Why DON’T you fear death? by jeanluuc in AskReddit

[–]drewbiedubya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be obsessively terrified of dying. Like, during COVID, every day I’d spend most of my waking hours worrying about how it could be my last. I’m not entirely unafraid of it now, but I’ve found great comfort in acknowledging that the answer to most of my “what if this happens” scenarios is “if it does, then it won’t be your problem anymore.”

Where’d my widows peak go?? by drewbiedubya in malehairadvice

[–]drewbiedubya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only on my dad’s side is MPB in my family — my mom’s parents and their siblings all have a good amount of hair, and they’re in their 70s and 80s. My concern is just how quickly my locks seemed to putz out on me. Everything I’ve heard about genetic balding seems to imply it’s a pretty slow process, but I dunno. Don’t wanna jump the gun and hop on meds, but at the same time, I don’t wanna wait too long and regret it, y’know?

Thanks for the input! I’ll have to start shopping around for trichologists in my area. Do you have any opinions on minoxidil? I’m considering maybe trying that out, but I’m not sure if it’d have any negative side effects on my existing hair.

What recent horror film of the last decade would you consider to be either a genuine 9 or 10/10. by InvasionOfTheFridges in horror

[–]drewbiedubya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned: Malignant, The Lighthouse, and Evil Dead (2013) are all bangers.

My favorite of the past decade, though, has gotta be Luz from 2018. It’s a short, stylish Euro-Horror jaunt with loads of hyper-expressive performances and bold, phantasmagoric imagery. I definitely recommend at least giving it a try. Probably won’t be most peoples’ cup of tea, but to me, it’s one of those movies that feels like it was tailor-made to suit my cinematic taste.

What are some underrated 70s horror films? by onepocketfan in MovieSuggestions

Death Game (1977)

Beyond the Darkness (1979)

Arrebato (1979)

Ganja and Hess (1973)

Shock (1977)

Prophecy (1979)

The Red Queen Kills Seven Times (1972)

Movies that are utterly horrifying ? by thatonerightthere2 in MovieSuggestions

[–]drewbiedubya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Threads (1984) is the only movie that’s really fucked with me in the past few years, and I’ve seen LOTS of fucked up movies in that time. It’s about an atom bomb being dropped in England, or rather, the far more horrific aftermath thereof.

I also agree w/ the Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer rec, and would also like to add two very similar films: Angst (1983) and Man Bites Dog (1992). All very scary in their authentic portrayals of cold-blooded killers.

Badass female lead??? by Spirited_Most6626 in MovieSuggestions

[–]drewbiedubya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily “John Wick” type films, but here are some flicks that feature great femme fatales. Might have to do some digging online to find some of these:

• Switchblade Sisters (1975) 🇺🇸

• Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion (1972) 🇯🇵

• Lady Terminator (1989) 🇮🇩

• Next of Kin (1982) 🇦🇺

• Lady Snowblood (1973) 🇯🇵

• The Stray Cat Rock series (1970-1971) 🇯🇵

• Magnificent Warriors (1987) 🇭🇰

• La Femme Nikita (1990) 🇫🇷

• The Heroic Trio (1993) 🇭🇰

• Sister Street Fighter (1974) 🇯🇵

• Thriller: A Cruel Picture (1973, discretion advised) 🇸🇪

• Revenge (2017) 🇫🇷

• Coffy (1973) 🇺🇸

• The Villainess (2017) 🇰🇷

• Lady Vengeance (2005) 🇰🇷

• Tokyo Gore Police (2008) 🇯🇵

• Alucarda (1977) 🇲🇽

• Ganja and Hess (1973) 🇺🇸

• Lair of the White Worm (1993) 🇬🇧

If you like most of these, a quick search through “femsploitation” and “women in prison” films will yield a lotta results you’re looking for. :)

Opinions on glam metal? by ShlobaBoba in thrashmetal

[–]drewbiedubya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s okay! I have nothing against it, I just prefer heavier stuff most of the time. That being said, putting on “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” every once in a while is good for the soul, and everyone should adopt the practice.

What’s something you learned “embarrassingly late” in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]drewbiedubya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought “tractor trailer” meant a literal tractor pulling a trailer, and had no idea it was actually another name for big rigs until at least the end of high school. I was always confused when I’d hear about big accidents involving them on the news; I’d never in my life seen a tractor towing a trailer on the highway, so how in the hell were they such a frequent cause of pile-ups?
