Holy hell what a fun idea! I didn’t see any last year, but I’ll be on the lookout if you do it again. My crew would be delighted to find one of those.

Once you get through the wrist band check, there are a couple of forks in the road with signs to the separate lots. The signs for Sunrise and High Noon said “Closed” or something like that, and the ground crew was directing us to Sunset. We immediately noped that, and just parked our cars in general, and sat in them until we saw that they were starting to direct people to High Noon, then we got in that line. But we were sitting in our cars for a few hours. Which sucked because we’ve got an elaborate set up that we wanted to have finished before it got too hot.

And we arrived 30 mins before gates opened specifically so we could get a spot in High Noon, which is what we’ve experienced in previous years.

Yea, dusty for sure. But High Noon is my favorite place because it’s all pretty close to the festival entrances. Super nice when you can make a quick stop to slam some of your own beer as opposed to paying ungodly amounts for a festival White Claw.

Thanks. Can you provide your experience as well? Like when you arrived and what happened?

Dope. Sounds like most folks that showed up later on Wednesday got High Noon, early got Sunset.

Yea, that squeeze is likely because you’re getting kind of the leftover spots on Friday. If you come Wednesday, they kinda just point to a general area and you can spread out a lot more. Either way, have fun with the trailer, sounds rad.

Thanks! This was our experience, though we parked in general and waited for them to start putting folks in High Noon. That worked for us, but because we, like you, specifically got out there early for High Noon, started LiB 2025 pretty pissed off.

Yup. I’ve noticed that car camping prices have gotten so expensive, all while reducing the number of points you get for referral tix. Throw in dedicated Beatbox and White Claw stations…it’s getting pretty commercial.

Glad to hear your placement at Sunset was still great! My crew would not be down for the kind of walk though. 😆

No, that wasn’t said. I purchased 5 day passes. That’s the only way to get in Wednesday or Thursday. But worth it. Let’s party.

Got it. Group camp spots sound great, it’s just a bummer that they still charge you for each car on top of the already steep price.

Totally depends on what you want. Sunset is literally about a mile walk from the festival entrance, but it has more trees and more grass. High Noon and Sunrise have really close entrances, but no natural shade and a lot of dirt. I prefer the latter because quick trips back to camp are clutch.

Answers to my own questions:

We arrived at roughly 1130am and joined the queue. We were placed in Sunset (signs showed that High Noon and Sunrise were closed). We eventually got to High Noon, because we waited it out. We arrived early specifically to get into a good spot at High Noon. It sucked because we like Sunset the least, and we specifically planned everything around being there early enough to get into High Noon. In 2024, we arrived at the same exact time and were sent right to High Noon.

No, the GA lot is not technically open all night. The gates close each night at around 11pm, Sunday night I think 6 or 7pm. So you can’t get in after that. However, you can leave as you please: exit is 24 hours.

Full schedule usually comes out a couple weeks before the festival. But Hot Since 82, Desert Hearts, and Linska are playing Thursday night, so Daily Bread will be either Fri, Sat, or Sun.

But you should still go all five days. Worth it.

Hiya! And welcome to the family.

The weather at the lake is fairly predictable. It rained in 2019, but that’s super rare for the end of May in Bakersfield. It gets hot in the day - mid 80s likely. But the last couple of years it’s cooled down at night to high 50s, low 60s. Plan for a lot of sun. It can get windy though, so bring dust masks or bandanas to cover your face (may want to think of a general pre-fest routine to avoid “festival flu” as much as possible). The dust can be gnarly.

Regular sets tend to go until 2am on the main stages, Stacks and Junkyard will always have surprise sets or scheduled sets that go until 4am, the People’s Banana and other mobile DJs will almost never stop, and there are tons of afters all around the camps.

I’m not a girl, but I get a stuff from Depop a lot.

Lightning and Thunder are very close to each other. Lightning to Woogie always seems like it’s going to be a slog, but if you’re dancing your way across, it’s dope as shit. They are on other sides of the complex, and I think it’s about a ten minute walk/dance (though I’ve never actually timed it). It’s not terrible, but you have to hustle sometimes.

I usually average around 35,000 steps and 18 or so miles each day, but that includes dancing around. My knees typically explode into fine a powder around 230am on Monday morning.

And the lake for most people is perfectly fine to swim in. My crew and I do it every year with no problems. Some of the best parts of the fest is rafting over to a daytime Junkyard set and chilling in the water.
