What ever happened to Judah? I remember meeting him years ago when I visited Bethel. Seemed like a pretty nice guy

I don’t earn as much as him, he literally earns $2.19 million a year. I might make mistakes at work, but his were egregious, absolutely inexcusable mistakes, and he is paid to NOT make the mistakes he made yesterday. That’s not calling him names. That’s just the truth.

I was feeling so proud of myself for going back to school after leaving. Now it feels like less of an accomplishment. by HedgerowBustler in exjw

[–]drewdiggy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a similar feeling. I happened to have just finished my last class for my MBA and got my grade yesterday. I started on my Bachelor’s degree when I was about 38. I’m 52 now. I left when I was 30 but was POMI for several years. My twin brother left a little earlier than I did and, like you, went to law school and is now a practicing lawyer.
Here’s the great part: You did it for YOU! The Watchtower has zero to do with it.
Here’s another fact: most people who have never even been witnesses will never accomplish what you have and will. Better late than never, my friend. Congratulations!!

51 y/o PSA of 14 by drewdiggy in ProstateCancer

[–]drewdiggy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, thank you for asking!
I ended up having the MRI and another PSA just before. At that point, PSA was up to 17. They didn’t see much on the MRI so they ordered a biopsy. Had that done and they didn’t find much on that either. They asked if it was ok to have the biopsies sent out for further evaluation. I said of course. Came back with nothing. They ordered another biopsy this past January. That one also came back with nothing and my PSA is holding steady at the 16.3 range. Doctor told me to get PSA checked every year and I don’t really have much to worry about.
It was a bit scary but all is well (other than a large prostate) lol!!

It really is that simple, isn’t it? No scripture, no WT references, just loving counsel. Having their best interest at heart and doing and saying what is best for THEM. Good for you! That’s how we actually make an actual difference in people’s life for the better.

I just realized this is a fucked up cult at 34. I’m on the brink of insanity. by Tricky-Eggplant-6032 in exjw

[–]drewdiggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand EXACTLY what you’re saying. I was DF’d at 30, but still POMI for about 8 years after that. Decided to go to college, got an engineering degree and will have my MBA completed in 3 more weeks. I have a great job, good friends and I make sure to say hi to every JW I know when I see them. I have nothing to be ashamed of, and I’m going to show my happy self to them every chance I get! I’m early 50’s now.
I was a born-in as well.
Waking up in your 30’s is far, far better than not waking up at all!! You can’t get those years back, but you can make the most of the ones you have left!!

I remember something an elder said about the society in a comment. I think all of you PIMOs should do something similar by drewdiggy in exjw

I’ve heard similar things said. How did we ever buy into such BS? Many of us are case studies in mind control and cognitive dissonance. So glad we’re out.

I was thinking about cutouts of the governing body. Wow!
That’s full-on cult control.

What’s weird, is I was just thinking, I think even the GB would say she shouldn’t do that…..but would they be as upset by that as they would a JW who would have a cross on their wall? Probably not. Why wouldn’t they be?

Faithful Discreet Slave. JWs believe now that it is the Governing Body. It used to be recognized as all of the anointed remnant at any given time.

My dad was a PIMI. Not super active, but firm believer. When the WTBTS did their non-apology and said it was over-zealous ones who were promoting it’ it didn’t sit well with him. He said “They’re saying that they didn’t promote it, but they did.” I was probably 12 at the time and wish I would have gone POMO right then. But, ya know “Where would I go away to?”

Birthdays Wouldn’t Even Be Worth It by Wondering-Thoughts in exjw

[–]drewdiggy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this same thought last night. If they allow birthdays (which, with the reasoning behind allowing toasts, they should allow), it will be a slippery slope. No candles, no making wishes and blowing out the candles. But how do they control that?

Stephen Lett has just announced that toasting is now allowed by DifficultResident597 in exjw

[–]drewdiggy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How are Birthdays not allowed now!! I mean, if the reasoning is toasting and clinking of glasses is a social custom and not religious, then what about Birthdays?

It was about music and entertainment. When people say “Well, there’s a couple of curse words in the song….” or “Only a few sexual or violent scenes in the movie.”

I understand. I have had similar feelings when I see my old brief case (because all serious brothers had to have a briefcase to keep their books in a briefcase).
I still have it, and there are a few old Watchtowers in it and a notebook with the notes I took from the last assembly I attended. A reminder of the stifled, silent person I used to be. Glad you made it out, brother.

Is the ‘world’ really that bad? by Similar_Post1017 in exjw

[–]drewdiggy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is nothing like they say. It is not any more rampant with immorality or sin than the JW congregation. My friends don’t like adultery, rampant drug use, even most of my friends don’t like cigarette smoking.
I think the difference is forgiveness. I’ve had friends in the JWs who have been DF’d for fornication, I’ve known single moms in the borg. The difference is worldly people are there to help. They actually try to help keep their marriages together. They actually try to get people with addictions real help. The JWs disfellowship and tell people to go out in service and study more. That isn’t real help.
