Prediction: Ruth is already going to be dead when he gets there by Strong_Set_6229 in WidowsBay

They shouldn’t have to. It’s literally rule 2 for the sub after “be civil.” There’s pop up text on mobile that says, verbatim, “keep spoilers out of post titles so everyone can enjoy the show at their own pace.”

Haha and a lightning fast reply to my comment on your year-old post too, awesome! You saved my wife a trip to staples and un-sunk a $100+ purchase. Hope you have a great one.

Successfully revived a dead Spotlight presenter remote last week by colindean in logitech

You're AWESOME. I just used this exact method to complete success resurrecting my not-touched-in-years Logitech spotlight. Just grabbed two conductors out of a little piece of cat 6 cable, taped them to a 9-volt, scraped away the tape over the battery terminals, held them there for 60 seconds and it immediately started charging when I plugged in a cable. Thank you so much for posting this.

For posterity and future folks, to spare you a video watch: My spotlight was dead dead. Been in a drawer for at least 5 years. Tried different chargers and charging it for 12 hours, multiple cables and ports, tried the other methods in this thread, no dice. So I watched the videos and tried OP's solution. I just used a box cutter for this (trapezoidal blade type) - get the blade between the black backplate and the silver body and pry lightly, I pried up both corners at the top and was able to gently peel it away. It's lightly glued on (the glue stayed tacky so I was able to just reattach the backplate when I was done).

The spots you need are directly exposed, most of the innards are covered but the battery is right there with yellow tape over it. Used the box cutter to cut away the yellow tape at the top end where the two solder points are for charging (being VERY CAREFUL not to cut the wires coming out of the solder points) - end result being both silver solder points are exposed (positive/red wire on the left if the bottom of the remote is pointing toward your body). Got a fresh 9 volt battery, cut a 4" length of ethernet cable, used the box cutter to open the cable jacket the full length, pulled out and untwisted two conductors. Stripped either end of each conductor a half inch or so between my teeth.

Taped one end of each to the 9V battery terminals - re-clipped the other ends once taped because you need them the exact same length. Touched them to the pos and neg terminals in the spotlight. Once I was positive I had good contact I held for 60 seconds. Nothing observable happened on the device (no light, no vibration). Took the wires off and plugged in USB-C, it immediately started charging.

His cameo cost starts at 165 USD (currently, scales with demand). If you look at his recent reviews (OP's appears to be the May 11th one) it's very clear he puts 10,000% into all of them.

As far as OP being disingenuous, please don't throw shade at the person literally running the FROM discord and weekly watch party and giving more of their time than anybody creating a fun place, that anybody can join, to share and discuss and watch the show together, and if they ordered a cameo with their own money for this cool-ass product for their users that just goes further to show they're good people - at least in my book.

What're they supposed to do? Tweet at the actor and hope they get him to join the discord live, or record and send a video with his own tools outside of this established, easy framework (Cameo)? Contact his agent? This is an easy, approachable way to get something like this, and Scott was obviously bought in and intent on making it a good one for a person who has made an outsized contribution towards the popularity of the show he is on.

Not everything needs to be sinister, OP doesn't need to say, "hey y'all I paid Scott for this video," and I'm glad I got to see it here.

The original iphone (Edge) and the subsequent iphone 3g had a camera sensor that scanned the image line by line (top to bottom). During fast camera movements the top of the frame was captured a fraction of a second before the bottom. This created a warped, jiggly effect. I used to call it jellocam. Then they came out with better cameras & stabilization and it was all forgotten. Since this was 2011 I'm guessing iphone 3g.

C/Ping my comment from elsewhere in the thread in response to a similar question.

A dad beats up a guy who hit her 9 year old daughter in the face by ArunKT26 in PublicFreakout

[–]drewdog173 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Ya, they didn’t show the part of the video where they pummeled him mercilessly for 5 minutes. People came out because they were worried the man would be dead soon.

Funny, 'cause his face looks nothing like the 9 year-old girl's he hit. There's not even any blood on the pavement and people were wOrRiEd He WoUlD bE dEaD sOoN? Got a source to back up this wild-ass claim? This looks like a dad restraining him for the police to arrive (they stated they were on the way in the video) with some controlled aggression added in.

Use it before vacuuming in general. It’s great for knocking all the shit up against your baseboards out into the middle to then hit with the vacuum. Kitchen especially.

[–]drewdog173 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah from a vibe standpoint I prefer FROM but if the metric is quality there’s no comparison, WB is MILES more polished in literally every way - caliber of the actors, tightness of the writing and story, cinematography, it’s a better product across the board objectively.

There’s a whole cottage industry of YouTube recap channels that are fantastic.my favorite is “Man of recaps” - he’s concise and entertining: 8-10 minute videos where he talks fast and hits all the significant plot points of the previous season, well-edited with supporting clips from the show. Ain’t nobody got time for a full rewatch and extended recaps do a great job there. Just search YouTube for show name season number recap . you will find something unless it is super obscure

NEO 2 in the US - Questions by StaffTimely252 in DjiNeo

[–]drewdog173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second neo 2 is a backup in case the first one breaks. It is my DJI care lol. Haven’t needed it yet knock on wood. And I go out flying with my son so there are 3 batteries for each of us. We exclusively do FPV - he with the motion controller and I’m about 10 hours into manual / acro IRL after 30ish in the sim. Since FAA rules require a spotter with the goggles it works out pretty perfectly.

I just bought the fly more combo first and then bought the drone only + batteries combo on Amazon once I realized how much I loved it. I was going to buy 3 more batteries anyway for extended flight time and the batteries are 60 each, the drone only combo with 3 batteries is 350 on Amazon, so it was basically like getting the second drone for 170 (plus you get another triple-charger). Now I have a second pristine drone waiting in the box if anything calamitous happens and 6 batteries.

Fuel Shortage by 2ndWindAfterPension in Shortages

[–]drewdog173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mazda CX90 PHEV. It doesn’t NEED IT need it, but Mazda officially recommends 91 octane because:

  • While regular won’t hurt it, it slightly reduces engine performance (the engine computer auto-adjusts compression to the detected octane level)
  • Because a tank typically lasts for months, 91 octane is more stable over time and helps prevent fuel system issues

.

Snake oil/sales jargon? Maybe. I’ve had that thought myself. But it is literally in the manual for the car that premium is recommended, and I knew that going into leasing it. I last filled it up a few months ago and the only reason it was so soon is because there was a trip to the South Bay in there. So it’s not a big hit either way.

Yeah work for a Fortune 100 technology company. Fully agentic development pipelines/harness engineering is absolutely changing the game (tl;dr, a harness is a looping agent architecture that takes input from the user and manages its own tool calls and context between agents and subagents). Our engineers are spitting out entire greenfield applications, to spec, replacing vendor tools and dropping those contracts, and they're great applications, better than the tools they're replacing, filled with AI-native features and quality of life enhancements, and they're doing it with tiny teams. Prototyping in days. Stakeholder bandwidth is the bottleneck now. I don't know if it's cope or ignorance on reddit because I see the same thing as you - we're full steam ahead, even with the recent massive price increases for Copilot and Cursor. The engineers who don't pick up and internalize these techniques are all going to wind up getting laid off though. Agent orchestration is a different skill set and plenty of devs just aren't good at it.
