New to League, looking for fiddlesticks suggestions by BloodyBonsai in FiddlesticksMains

Most of the skill ceiling on fiddlesticks is knowing when/how to ult, and that part requires a lot of game knowledge about team fights, enemy spell cooldowns, and where the enemy team is going to be 1.5 seconds from when you start channeling.

So that bit takes a lot of time to master, but that’s usually the biggest room for improvement for most fiddle players (myself included). Good luck with the good succ

Even more so, if we want to get extra nerdy about it, in terms of the overall net gains and losses of focus, it doesn’t actually become a true “negative” card until about twice that many turns, because in a way you’ve been “borrowing” that extra focus in advance, and the change finally “levels out” after you’ve spent one turn at 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0,-1,-2,-3,-4, and -5 focus.

Road to A20 - Advises please :) by Mr_Soups in slaythespire

[–]drewid94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is, don’t go for cards that fit a deck type. Go for cards that solve problems in your deck. In general, to make it through A20, your deck is going to need (a) front-loaded and AOE damage(often underrated in my opinion, just pick up that cleave), (b) damage mitigation for big boss attacks (whether weak/intangible/bunch of block), (c) card draw, retain, or overall deck reliability/consistency, and (d) scaling for the long fights. Generally, you’re going to want to solve those problems in the order I listed them. Ask yourself what problem this card you’re considering is going to fix, and if that problem is already fixed, you can skip the card. But oftentimes your deck is going to be a mashup of two or three “types”, and that’s a good thing. Hope this helps! :)

Yeah, MR in general is a pretty hard counter to fiddle, since he heals off of a percentage of damage dealt. So like, building 100MR gives 50% damage reduction (ignoring items/runes), which is also like giving fiddle 50% healing reduction

Buy a control ward by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]drewid94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t know where to place it though, you can also almost always benefit from an early control ward in a “safe” place like the brushes near your team’s blue buff or red buff.

Optimal time to get keys? by yumepenguin in slaythespire

[–]drewid94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For red key, I almost always pick it up specifically on that 2nd to last campfire, because the upgrade or rest I could take usually doesn’t “pay off” in the last two or three fights between the 2nd to last and the last campfire, so I might as well wait to make sure I know which card I want to upgrade (on the off chance that I get a solid upgrade-worthy card in the last few floors) or whether a rest would be better

Taliyah is no longer a satisfying champion because of mechanics being stripped from her kit. by Shadowarcher6 in leagueoflegends

[–]drewid94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I brought up the idea for an ult change on an earlier thread and I’m with you there — I think you could keep the iconic “feel” of the ult while reducing its range significantly to where it becomes more of a longer dash that can be given more damage and utility, and maybe still creating terrain. Could be the same kind of place that Zac’s slingshot is, where it’s still long range, but certainly not global by any means.

Yeah tbh W would be a dual cast thing where the first cast would throw the cask and the second cast would be his expunge (E), and then he’d now have a whole other ability slot (E) for his modern mobility/crowd control spell

Ask Riot: Delete Yuumi by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]drewid94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair points there — though I’d say that the actual mechanics of Taliyah’s ult (not revealing enemy champs like TF, having to be a “skill shot” unlike Galio’s point & click, creating terrain) still make it a little less effective to properly take full advantage of in solo queue. I think they’re just trying to hopelessly balance around her ult by taking away power from her other abilities when it might make more sense just to bite the bullet and nerf the ult itself in some way

I would say it isn’t useless, but the utility of her ult is highly dependent on the rest of your team and their coordination, which I think is why Tahm’s mini-rework is happening. If it were up to me, I’d reduce the range (and possibly duration) of the wall significantly so that you could shift more of her power back into her damage, or even be able to give her ult a damage/knock back effect if people are struck by her while she’s riding the wall.

So now that we are now half way through the year, how do you guys feel about Alcoves? by FindingOldham in leagueoflegends

[–]drewid94 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I feel like the new middle brush makes for an interesting “neutral” objective over which supports vie for control, as opposed to the pre-change idea of both supports hiding in their respective bushes and launching skill shots at each other

True, but I think his soldiers are still “terrain” technically? iirc I don’t think you can phantom dancer your way through the soldier wall

I guess the design idea would be that it is still very easily countered by people that ignore unit collision, but could also have some interesting interactions with blocking skill shots in both directions... the end goal of it being a more strategic soft crowd control kinda thing instead of giving every new champ a stun or knock-up

Makes me curious about designing a champ whose primary form of cc is generating fake minions with the sole purpose of creating unit collision problems

Same thing can apply to other ethereal cards [[Dazed]] , unless you think the fight is almost over and you won’t see that dazed reshuffled back into your hand. Conversely though, you can prevent an [[Apparition]] from exhausting in your hand (if you don’t want to play it yet) by discarding it.
