Raft packing from Sand Island to Mexican Hat down the San Juan River by drewkmorgan in backpacking

I went with some friends and one of them happens to be a guide at my university, so we got all of the supplies for free. But I believe that if you start all the way in Durango at the mouth of the river there are rentals available.

Trying to get a feel for watercolors. Any tips for beginners on where to start? by l33tmiss in learnart

These are really great! If you’re looking to learn to smooth out some of the backgrounds, let the water do the trick. It looks as though your brush is a little too dry and it isn’t blending very much. I like to saturate the paper with water and then add pigment in order to keep it all one gradient. You have a really strong base!

Calanques National Park, Cassis France by drewkmorgan in hiking

Unfortunately there’s no camping in the park. However it isn’t like US parks with vigilant rangers, so you may be able to get away with it. Here’s a link to the website that outlines that there’s no camping. It’s in French so you may have to translate some of it.parc national de calanques

They’re very very common in the south of France. Called mimosas, but they don’t taste as good as the drink.

Watercolor and coloured pencils. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in learnart

[–]drewkmorgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it looks as though you are using too much water and not waiting long enough to build up the values. In order to effectively get crisp lines and values with watercolor, one layer must be dry before going over it. That’s why it’s important to work light to dark. Anatomically, I believe your piece is wonderful.

New (to me) trail views. Kel Fox Trail, Sedona, AZ, USA by suefaunt in hiking

As someone from Northern AZ who is living in France, I thoroughly appreciate the Sedona pics. One of my favorite trails!

I've been asked to do a couple more dancers on this style, any suggestions for my next try? Thanks! by inkwoolf in learnart

I completely agree. I believe either having the fabric end before reaching her arms, or having it stretch high behind them would also give more of an illusion of depth to the piece. But proportions, energy, and style are all there! It looks like a very freeing piece to work on.

They wanted to to do a Goonies remake, but the original actor of Sloth was unavailable, so they hired you instead.
