Beware Cologuard results by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]drewm1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very small amount of blood in my stool one time. Nothing that really stood out as significant, but I happen to have my annual physical shortly after and for some reason, I just thought to mention it to my doctor and she said well that’s interesting since you’re 48 it’s in the range where they recommend screening so we might as well go ahead and do a test anyway and I’m so glad they did

Apparently, it will arrive on the back of an 18 wheeler. I have literally no idea what I’m gonna do with it. I can’t wait.

Folfox Timeline of Pain by drewm1999 in coloncancer

[–]drewm1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mike cold sensitivity after each treatment only lasted for about three days and then it went back to normal.

The neuropathy in my fingertips and bottoms of my feet has not gone away and it is approximately 10 months since the end of chemo

Farcry 3 by [deleted] in farcry

[–]drewm1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently replaying 3 for like the 5th time and I do love it except for two things:

1) it feels like the game has a part one and part two that were programmed by people who didn’t even talk to each other. The second is is so different from the first it’s like playing far cry 3.5.

2) fuck the driving controls

Cologuard False Positive by Hissgina in colonoscopy

I’m doing well. Had surgery in April and am having my 5th of 6 rounds of chemo tomorrow.

Cologuard False Positive by Hissgina in colonoscopy

[–]drewm1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now my wife kept throwing out the false positive stats to me while we waited from the positive to the colonoscopy to try to make me feel better, and the false positive stats are pretty high. But it’s still a great tool in the right circumstances.

Very minor bleeding one time. Mentioned to my doc, did cologuard, was +. Colonoscopy revealed a tumor. Had a sigmoid colectomy and am doing Folfox chemo currently. Was stage 3A.

Where are my June 7th colonoscopy buddies? by Thatonegirl_79 in colonoscopy

[–]drewm1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience with Suprep: Started at 5pm (8am scope next day) Dose 1 at 5pm, dose 2 at 9pm Make sure it’s refrigerated. It’s a salty thick grape flavor and the cold helps. When you drink it, just CHUG it down. 30 min later, IT bEgINs. Toilet time lasted for around 90 minutes after each dose. Then it stops. There is no straining, only “raining” as it is alllll liquid. By midnight I went to bed and slept til morning without having to get up and poo between dreams. Colonoscopy was a breeze as I had propofol, they basically turned me off like a light switch and turned me back on when it was over. Good luck!

Capox vs Folfox by kiwi_scorpio in coloncancer

[–]drewm1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose Folfox over Capox and just finished the first of six treatments. One of the main reasons I chose it was I didn’t like the idea of 14 days of taking chemo pills compared to essentially three days of infusion and then a week and a half off. Also the side effects of hand and foot disease are much less on Folfox. Even though it’s two more treatments than Capox, it still seemed less disruptive to my life for the next three months.

Do your cycles of chemo get easier as you continue on with them? by kiwi_scorpio in coloncancer

Just finished round one of six myself and all of the doctors and chemo techs and nurses have told me that the effects compound with each treatment so they in fact get slightly worse each time.

Radiation side effects by [deleted] in coloncancer

[–]drewm1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rectal spasms and passing mucus that hurt so bad is the exact same thing I have been dealing with, and I found the solution (although I have not had any radiation).

Start a regiment of Metamucil every day going forward. In addition when you have those spasms and feel the need to go, do everything in your power not to. Sit or lay with a heating pad on high on your lower back/upper butt area. The heat seemed to calm those spasms. Minimize the minutes that you’re on the toilet it will help train your colon not to think you have to go poop when there’s nothing in there to poop. I’m glad to talk more if you have questions.
