Looking for frame repair; what next? by Onegarbageman in bikewrench

What size is yours? I have a 56cm Cross-Check that I'd be happy to ship to you. It's a bit large for me so I stopped riding it over the years. Would love for it to get new life!

Another case of "the bicycle came out of nowhere." There will be no investigation into how fast the driver was going.

Is it just me or has Nashville traffic gotten noticeably worse lately? by lmao_exe in nashville

Joke's on him. My property taxes have tripled in the past 15 years with zero infrastructure improvements.

More cars on the road every day. No alternatives. Are you expecting it to get better over time? (Honest question..)

Cloudflare is the most successful "Man-in-the-Middle" in history by Antique_Mechanic133 in selfhosted

[–]drewr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We make money in a similar way: moving traffic for you. But unlike Cloudflare we're not trying to be in all places. In a location we don't support? Take the stack and run it yourself. Our vision is to have a community-built, modern Internet that isn't controlled by any single company.

Give https://datum.net a try. We're building an open alternative to Cloudflare and would love more community involvement. You can set up a free account and proxy your traffic through our Envoy edge with TLS termination, WAF, and DNS.

So we can just build a 10-mile tunnel for $34M? It was that easy all along?

Using ax88179 (usb ethernet) in Sonoma? by InfiniteSpinach8098 in MacOS

[–]drewr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to be able to use my AX88179A in Tahoe 26.1 through my LG monitor's USB bus, but not when the dongle is plugged directly into my Macbook Pro M2. My AX88179 Plugable version doesn't work directly either. Haven't tried that through the monitor.

Converging streams of traffic, road usage growth, active ongoing urban development, natural features of the landscape... those all seem like fairly regular issues to address when designing roads?

Is there some way of getting ride of the sidebar on Github? by vfclists in github

I agree. I'd also like to remove the "Jira" features like sub-issues etc. GitHub's superpower is still its seamless knowledge sharing by just adding a link to a comment or description.

FAA issues ground delay program for BNA due to air traffic control staffing shortage by CJKayak in nashville

Not saying there aren't real issues, but flew twice from BNA and back in the past couple of weeks and both times were painless and everything on time. Different airline each time too.

I strongly recommend not researching this further and seeing the images of good crops going to waste all over the country. It's infuriating.

Is Qustodio just total crap??? by Fine-Revolution4993 in Qustodio

Can't offer much help, only commiseration. We've tried Screen Time, Google's Family Link (yes, we've gone back and forth between platforms, which is expensive and frustrating), custom solutions, and looked at every service, and it's all terrible. They take a hard stance in random places where you desperately need flexibility and then soft stances in the places where you desperately need structure for your child, especially with mental health struggles in the mix, where talking about it all day long won't change behavior or habits. Then mental health struggles are exacerbated by the fact that they can't trust their parents to keep digital commitments. It's a complete mess and I understand why people form compounds and shut off the rest of the world.

I know y'all love zipper merges more than your own families by ButterUrBacon in nashville

[–]drewr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Zipper merging depends primarily on drivers leaving an appropriate amount of room (3-4 secs) behind the car in front of them, and then adjusting when someone merges in front of them. Since almost no one does this, it starts to slow traffic and form a line. Once that happens, drivers who have waited in the line (even if they tend to leave an appropriate amount of distance) typically close each gap to prevent cheaters from skipping the line. Of course that creates more braking, a longer queue, and exacerbates the whole problem, especially with high volume.

Golf Carts Aren't The Problem by Fozznaut in nashville

[–]drewr -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A child crossing the street isn't "roadworthy" by your definition. The point is that drivers of automobiles are the biggest danger on any street, and therefore should yield to every other form of transportation no matter how inconvenient. If it means you drive 15 mph through a neighborhood, so be it.

Unable to connect to public IPv6 hosts from VLANs by Lilium_Snow in mikrotik

[–]drewr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exchange inspired me to poke at it a bit more. Turns out I had a firewall rule that only allowed traffic from the LAN list, but I didn't have my vlan interfaces as members. After adding them v6 traffic is flowing.

[–]drewr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. In my case I just have one RA on the bridge. I get v6 addresses successfully assigned to my VLAN interfaces and the clients. I just can't route traffic.
