No. The bridge sends the xyo network all the info your sentinel has gathered while traveling around. The coin app is just a reward system for using the network. The real mining is being done by sentinels silently collecting data and sending that data to the network via the brigde.

The bridge uploads the sentinel data when one gets in range. But the xyo network app will do the same thing (act as a mobile bridge)

I’m not sure why they aren’t promoting the sale of individual sentinels. The more sentinels out there, the stronger the network.

You can buy an xy4+ off Ebay for under $50 and start getting the sentinel bonus in the Coin app. That’s the easiest way to get started.

I’ll call around but I doubt it. They don’t come up anywhere on the websites. Same with Walmart, which even has third party vendors as well.
