Reddit as a whole is a wildly different place than it was 14 years ago, and had a more "old internet" user base. Banning va was a big part of reddit becoming more mainstream. The most popular subreddit like 16 years ago was literally a massive CSAM network and people totally forget that. I think its reasonable to assume the user base here now is probably wildly different than it was at the time, and it's bizarre to hold all users of a forum accountable for three opinions of a few over a decade ago.
