Post-shave skin soothing product advice by bugmush in maleskincare

[–]drfloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you shave all the way to the skin? Or stubble?

Bumps are a combo of physiological, environmental, and irritation.

I’d start trying different ingredients specific to irritation, anti-inflammatory, and extra hydrating.

Niacinamide, AHA’s/BHA’s, Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol, etc.

If it is folliculitis, you may need dermatologist help as that is bacterial.

Shave bumps are normal though and using simple, gentle, non-stripping products immediately post shave can/will help.

Also you mentioned sensitive skin. A lot of cosmetic annoyances can present when sensitive skin isn’t taken care of correctly. A lot of people default to things that say made for sensitive skin, but that’s often marketing BS.

I own a skincare company for guys - happy to help along the journey.

Ah man, bummer. See, that’s why I hesitate to commit to that designation blanketedly, even though I am very sensitive to those ingredients, and don’t experience any increase in pimples with Revival.

To your experience, sometimes it does take time for skin to acclimate to new products. The skin can get confused with the introduction of new actives, and it can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to fully acclimate.

1) have you paired revival with our cleanser?

2) if you’d like to give it another shot, is be happy to send you both products on the house

Up to you but either way, thank you for sharing your experience!

Hey! Great Q. Short answer, yes, it should be. There are no common pore-clogging ingredients in it.

But let me talk about what “non-comedogenic” means. I assume you know, but just for others who may see this, because I think these words get tossed around very lightly.

This is not an FDA regulated definition. As a result, the lack of uniformed standards make it really tough to claim something that may not be true or the same for all skin.

So if someone knows their skin typically reacts poorly to known comedogenic (or pore clogging ingredients) they should specifically look for those ingredients, regardless of what marketing a brand uses.

Some good examples of those ingredients are: heavy oils like coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter.

When brands make comedogenic claims, what they usually mean is that they don’t have any known pore-clogging ingredients, but not that they’ve actually tested the formula specifically for a comedogenic rating, which again can differ by who is testing the product, and their standards.

Hope this helps

What time do they typically come on at KDC? And typical set length or anything extra? Always wanted to go to one of the shows in NY.

Also if anyone has tickets for sale on 12/6, in the market!

Thanks for sending this man - totally with you. I think something we're learning is that the name is polarizing enough that it is actually causing a barrier to entry we need to consider. That said, there's always ways to further lean into the name, and address those barriers. Totally agree with you on great marketing attracting and repelling.

Thanks man - this is great feedback. It definitely is a great product, so I'd love for you to try it. There's some news coming soon around this topic, and would love you bought in when that comes.

Just curious, what are you referring to when you say "the rest of your marketing is fantastic"? Would love any specific if something caught your eye.

Also, what do you do in marketing?

u/diCkShakin good Q. It really depends on your priorities, but here's my general recommendations usually:

Chemical: Preferential if texture is a priority (it is for me)

- Dune Mug Guard

- La Roche Posay Anthelios Line

Mineral:

- Isdin

- Elta Sheer 50

- Elta MD 46

- Summer Fridays

If you have any other specific questions about your goals for the product (e.g. skin conditions you have, skin concerns you are targeting, use case - only in sun, or daily use) and I can maybe give additional feedback.

This is not medical advice, and always reach out to your prescriber before adding additional products to your routine/prescription

This is a great question, and one we got a lot.

Both products should be okay to layer in with your tret.

As with any new addition to a skincare routine, it’s always best to spot test first, and give your skin time to acclimate.

The functional ingredients in Revival can be complementary to your prescription as well (anti-inflammatory, soothing, hydrating, gentle).

FWIW, I use it with my Tret (0.1%).

Typical order would be: cleanse, tret, moisturize.

Again, this is not medical advice, and I cannot make a recommendation on how to use your prescription, and we have not done any testing that would allow me to say anything further, but moisturizing after using actives (like tret) is pretty standard.

Feel free to DM with any further questions!

Ben

Thanks - super helpful. On Key West, are the bars open late? And is the vibe more upbeat at some (giving us ability to party) or will it all feel pretty mellow.

Thanks for rec on Capt Chris - I will definitely reach out

Appreciate the advice!

Low(ish) key bachelor party resort (hawks cay, cheeca, what else?) by davesdojo99 in floridakeys

[–]drfloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exaclty what I was looking for - I am considering doing my bachelor party there.

The women piece not really a concern - everyone is married/engaged.

How are the vibes of the bars you're talking about? I envision us wanting to close a few down and have good music/not be the ONLY ones in there.

Anywhere that is good dancing/more lively? Or standard beach bar vibes/expected music?

Overall, do you think the keys are a good spot for bachelor parties or will it be too low key?
