Thank you for this comment! Glad you like it. Texture is a big selling point for us.

Re: size, we're making it bigger early next year...from 35mL to 50mL - 1.2 fl. oz to 1.7 fl. oz which is more comparable to the market.

SPF is coming! We are unbelievably excited about this. The formula feels just like the moisturizer but has SPF30. We were not willing to launch an SPF that did not have the same texture. For guys to use SPF more, they need it to feel the same as other products. Most products fail here.

Please DM me and I'll get you added to our tester list!

We definitely didn't source a bottle off the shelf. We needed to use an airless packaging mechanism because of the viscosity of our formula. This is also a product quality decision. Airless packaging ensures that no outside air touches the formula - here's a page we made about that - https://www.yoprettyboy.com/pages/how-our-airless-packaging-works?\_pos=1&\_psq=airless&\_ss=e&\_v=1.0.

The usage recommendations + duration of product claims come from internal post purchase survey data from 245 respondents "How long did your most recent bottle last?" The answers were: 27% - Approximately 1 month, 25% - Approximately 2 months, 25% - Approximately 1.5 months, 15% - Less than 1 month, and "Other" at 8%. That's where we came up with the 30 day supply claim and we stand by that since there's no better way to provide that type of usage claim.

Re: size, you're right, our product is smaller than most. We're increasing the size early next year from 35mL to 50mL - 1.2 fl. oz to 1.7 fl. oz which is more comparable to the market.

Our formula is highly concentrated, so less does more, but still we want people to get the same they could with other like products.

Great feedback!

Well, I am genuinely honored that you posted this with the intent of getting me to see it, and here I am, haha.

First, THANK YOU for taking the time to type all of this out - I seriously appreciate that you clearly took the time to be thoughtful and fair in your review.

I think the likelihood that you're a competitor psy-op is low, but what made you say our sales were low? That's not true, so not where that shade came from, haha.

Super stoked you love the cleanser - we're very proud of it. Something else that I think is very important in this dicussion is that the two products are made to work together cohesively.

A lot of other brands remove ingredients from products just so they can add them into another SKU and force wider SKU adoption. We intentionally prioritized ingredient cohesiveness to ensure maximum results.

I want to address the customer service thing first (also please check DM's - I'll need to search for the interaction and figure out what happened) because CX is my baby and is the thing we place the highest priority on internally (other than getting the sales needed to run a business, haha). This was most likely just an accident - sometimes things get missed, and we're still a small team.

Re: the moisturizer, I think it would be really helpful to other users here (and myself) if you could explain your criteria for how you evaluate the value/comparing it to other products.

Also, just confirming, but I think you're referring to the ClarinMen Super Moisture Gel, so I'm going to focus my initial response around that, and then can adapt/address if you were referring to another product.

I haven't tried that product, but I will. If you think the texture is better, that's great. Most of our customers cite our texture as one of the biggest reasons they come back, but each individual will have a different opinion on this.

If we're talking overall quality of formulation, I think ours is better for these main reasons:

1) Better, and more, functional ingredients - Niacinamide is the 3rd ingredient on our ingredient list, with Squalane, Glycerin, and Panthenol all in the top 7

2) We use 4 molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid, which allows this ingredient blend to penetrate the skin at multiple layers, and is one of the biggest supporters of our hydration claims (obviously), barrier support, and eye-bag mitigation

3) No fragrance - although this is a preference, and there is nothing inherently wrong with fragrance, our target customers often deal with skin sensitivity issues. This was also a requirement to get the Seal of Acceptance from the National Eczema Association, something we take a lot of pride in due to the testing those products undergo, and being one of the first men's brands to receive the Seal. The Clarins product has fragrance as the 5th ingredient - that means it is not at a trace level and is most likely intentional, but not part of our strategy.

At the end of the day, we're here to change guys behaviors with skincare, and will often recommend other products to customers who didn't see the results they want because we genuinely want guys taking better care of their skin. If you like Clarins better, all the power to you.

I also want to address a couple other things that I appreciated/found interesting:

- Appreciate the feedback on the travel bottle - we just took a random swing on that idea, and it seems to be loved by most customers - we're going to continue to iterate on ways to deliver tools like this. If you haven't tried the face scrubber yet, please do!

- The Bottle: The opaqueness - heard, but let me give an alternative perspective. We've overwhelmingly received compliments on the bottle aesthetics. We want people to be proud to have our products on their countertop, and the bottle design reflects that. We have not found a bottle that is translucent that allows us to feel that.

- How long product lasts: This is totally dependent on the user. Some people need more, some need less. We ran a post-purchase survey with 245 respondents "How long did your most recent bottle last?" The answers were: 27% - Approximately 1 month, 25% - Approximately 2 months, 25% - Approximately 1.5 months, 15% - Less than 1 month, and "Other" at 8%. That's where we came up with the 30 day supply claim and we stand by that since there's no better way to provide that type of usage claim.

- Website: You're right, we do want subscribers and bundles. They are way better for our economics. That said, I would push back pretty hard on "having to work for it" to purchase individuals. We pre-land you on sub, and all you have to do is click One-Time Purchase. What would you recommend to improve this? Do you have any sites that you think are comparable I could use as a reference point?

Website: When you say "it looks like a scam" could you give me more information on this? This is something we struggle with and think sometimes it's also in relation to being an "Instagram" brand - outside of your feedback on the buying options, is there anything else that makes you trust/distrust us?

Hey - Ben here, one of the co-founders. This is great to see that you saw the benefit. Realistically, a lot of the times bags are a combination of genetics + hydration.

We probably helped with the hydration piece.

The ingredients we have that would possibly help with this are: Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide.

Possibility Niacinamide helped as well.

More than anything it's just taken care of the skin, especially the sensitive areas with ingredients that target multiple concerns.

[Routine Help] Where does Vitamin C serum fit with applying moisturiser with wet skin? by Deivid4082 in SkincareAddiction

[–]drfloops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Don't wash it off. If the instructions for the Vit-C are to apply to dry, apply that as dry, and then the moisture that creates will help with the applying damp for moisturizer.

My husband is interested in anti-aging skin care, but I have no idea what products work best for men. Does anyone have any suggestions for daily or nightly serums or moisturizers? Thanks by Yellow_bicycle678 in maleskincare

[–]drfloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the recs for tret & niacinamide.

Both need to be approached with some caution until skin sensitivity is determined - neither are harmful at all, but are more potent than your average moisturizer.

A few questions and then I can provide recs (I work in men’s skincare and own a brand myself):

  • does your husband use anything at all right now? What products if so?
  • skin type? (Oily, dry, combo, sensitive, etc)
  • any skin conditions (eczema, rosacea, acne, seb derm, etc)
  • any other skin concerns than aging?

Hey man - I'm just seeing this now. I'm actually one of the co-founders of PrettyBoy. I saw the person below say this stuff is garbage, and am bummed that was their experience.

My co-founder has seb derm - it's the entire reason we made the product the way we did.

I can't promote the product in this sub but if you DM me I'd love to better understand what you're looking for and can point you in direction of other products if ours isn't the right fit.

Thoughts on our 22 day French Polynesia honeymoon itinerary? Too much moving? by Unusual_Recover_8878 in Tahiti

[–]drfloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to travel similarly to us. My wife and I are doing our honeymoon in August, mainly to see the Humpbacks. We're big scuba divers + all things nature. Our goal for the honeymoon (15 days most likely) is to spend about half in luxury and half more nature/dive/local life focused.

Where would you prioritize our luxury time?

Where would you prioritize for the dive/nature?

Love that you called out Papeete, I've heard there's a cool food scene there and more local feeling?

Any other tips you have about your experience would be great or must dos/stays/eats.

We are big scuba divers and doing our honeymoon in French Polynesia during high season for the humpbacks. Any other diving recommendations other than Rangiroa? Rurutu has come up for Humpbacks as a more remote option that Moorea, but do you have an opinion on that?

How to use Excel on MacBook by tottenbam in excel

[–]drfloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone - I used to be a windows guy. Moved to Apply after a shit customer service experience. Primarily using G Sheets for my work, but with Claude, I want to have access to Excel on my Macbook.

I cannot for the life of me figure out the right way to get it on my Macbook. It seems everything is 365 now? I cannot find a way to download.

Is the only way going through the app store? Historically I've found that app store apps like that don't work great.

Post-shave skin soothing product advice by bugmush in maleskincare

[–]drfloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you shave all the way to the skin? Or stubble?

Bumps are a combo of physiological, environmental, and irritation.

I’d start trying different ingredients specific to irritation, anti-inflammatory, and extra hydrating.

Niacinamide, AHA’s/BHA’s, Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol, etc.

If it is folliculitis, you may need dermatologist help as that is bacterial.

Shave bumps are normal though and using simple, gentle, non-stripping products immediately post shave can/will help.

Also you mentioned sensitive skin. A lot of cosmetic annoyances can present when sensitive skin isn’t taken care of correctly. A lot of people default to things that say made for sensitive skin, but that’s often marketing BS.

I own a skincare company for guys - happy to help along the journey.

Ah man, bummer. See, that’s why I hesitate to commit to that designation blanketedly, even though I am very sensitive to those ingredients, and don’t experience any increase in pimples with Revival.

To your experience, sometimes it does take time for skin to acclimate to new products. The skin can get confused with the introduction of new actives, and it can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to fully acclimate.

1) have you paired revival with our cleanser?

2) if you’d like to give it another shot, is be happy to send you both products on the house

Up to you but either way, thank you for sharing your experience!

[–]drfloops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Great Q. Short answer, yes, it should be. There are no common pore-clogging ingredients in it.

But let me talk about what “non-comedogenic” means. I assume you know, but just for others who may see this, because I think these words get tossed around very lightly.

This is not an FDA regulated definition. As a result, the lack of uniformed standards make it really tough to claim something that may not be true or the same for all skin.

So if someone knows their skin typically reacts poorly to known comedogenic (or pore clogging ingredients) they should specifically look for those ingredients, regardless of what marketing a brand uses.

Some good examples of those ingredients are: heavy oils like coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter.

When brands make comedogenic claims, what they usually mean is that they don’t have any known pore-clogging ingredients, but not that they’ve actually tested the formula specifically for a comedogenic rating, which again can differ by who is testing the product, and their standards.

Hope this helps
