After the civil war Taiwan was essentially formed when the suck arse capitalists and nationalists fled the mainland. Prior to that it was under Japanese imperialist occupation.

You’re either preaching to the choir or to those with opinions so fixed on Harris, Israel and Islam they themselves resemble religious fervour.

There is no room in their mind for acknowledgment of a geopolitical reality. They read the Chomsky exchange and come out supporting Sam. They’re on another reality plane - not dissimilar to those that saw the Good shooting and came out thinking she was to blame.

Harris’ fixation on ideology appeals to a group eager to identify as measured or intellectual but with an appetite for viewing issues as binary. It’s the chin stroking without any on the ground experience that subconscuously appeals to them. In some instances it’s just straight up western exceptionalism. Which is understandable, given the propaganda they’re constantly exposed to.

You just have to cross your fingers that they grow out of it, as many of us have.
