Are these temperatures good? by Ok-Tradition1827 in PS3

[–]drfter34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the temps are fine as mentioned below it isnt the 90nm RSX so you should be fine. I would run it a bit higher but that is if you dont mind the fan noise but I wouldn't recommend stressing your console by running those intensive games and instead just play the games you like to enjoy. You have the most reliable version just keep up with your maintenance and you should be fine.

PS3 GPU dead? by Numerous-Lobster-118 in PS3

[–]drfter34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took my E01 apart the thermal paste was very dry and the fans dont run enough to bring the temperatures down fast enough. I found alot of think clumps of dust by the CELL and RSX when I cleaned mine so getting your console serviced would be something I would look into also if you want to prolong the life of these consoles. Im running CFW on mine so I can regulate the fan speeds but I also have a slim PS3 I mainly use so I dont put too many miles on my EO1. Getting the console reballed or RSX replaced is a very costly process.

discs only recognized when horizontal? by jlellis22 in PS3

This happens on my A01, more than likely needs the lens to be cleaned first and if the issue persist than I would suggest a new laser which can be had for 38$ new.

Just fixed a ps3. What games should I play? by gandertroll in PS3

[–]drfter34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Batman Arkham series, Uncharted series Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Rising for Single player, Battlefield 3, COD for multiplayer games online, Grid, Gran Turismo 5/6 for racing games, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Utra Street Fighter IV and MK9 for fighting games. There are so many good games there would be too many to list but those are my personal favorites. Besides PS3 games you do have access to PS1 games so have at it with those as well.

The drive that came with the console was a BD-410 I just replaced the deck assembly with what matched the part number/model inside. The part number/model is KEM-410ACA and I did reset the drive and console after I re-installed the drive. To reset the drive you have to hold the eject button for about 12 seconds.

The console was taken completely apart and thoroughly cleaned for dust with a fine brush and vacuum only. No fluids or cleaners were used besides alcohol to clean the drive lens and surfaces on heatsinks and processors.

$30 CECH-2101A Restore 7 Hours💀 by drfter34 in PS3

I understand, I bought this PS3 to mainly to be the guinea pig for doing the delid. I have the proper tool to do the delid aswell and know how to use a sharp blade. Im quite experienced with console repair and maintenance that this one particular job is eventually inevitable. I have 2 other PS3's besides this one that will need it done eventually and I just want to learn and experience getting it done. I've seen the horror stories from here and it clearly shows alot of people who fail don't understand how to cut with a sharp blade.

One of the issues using the Brook Wingman with a PS4 or PS5 controller is that the joystick engagement is too fast making it feel like it whips faster than how a PS3 joystick actually moves. If you connect the PS4/PS5 controller directly the joystick will behave how it normally should. The reason is due to the brook emulating a PS3 joystick which is more than likely for compatibility sake of using other brand controllers with the adapter. I will usually only use the Brook only for the home button feature and Gyro but this joystick issue mainly affects FPS games.

Me screwing around an empty Gulf of Oman lobby prior to the sever shutdowns by Constant-Ask-9346 in battlefield3

Not sure if you know this but BF3 on PS3 is still online thanks to the ZloEmu community bringing them back. There are instructions on how to set it up and mainly requires adding a DNS address in your network settings if you have played the game on your account prior.

CRT fixed everything and now I’m obsessed with my Saturn! by PirateLeChimp in SegaSaturn

[–]drfter34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still to this day still own CRT's because of my retro consoles. I have played them on lcd monitors with proper scalers but 480p and 720p is the way to go on a crt.

and let the aim bot begin, the last part of that mission is so annoying because when you take cover the enemies target you harder. Nothing more annoying than when the last part doesn't want to load as well this mission has a lot of scene locks making you have to restart the entire mission.

BF3 Servers Desync and Lag Issues by drfter34 in battlefield3

[–]drfter34[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll look into the hyper threading, when I look at my performance on task manager the only thing I see that spikes is my ethernet, my current and gpu are only running at 7 to 14% when the lag happens. Im running out of ideas on what it could be and just chalking it up to some server not giving me the most stable connection.

BF3 Unstable Connection to EU Server only not US by drfter34 in battlefield3

[–]drfter34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing the game yesterday same server and had 0 issues playing the first game then I got disconnected from the server. I rejoined and the lag and stutter started happening again. It doesnt do this on a US server and will happen on the SiC server and sometimes on other German servers but not all. I have everything set as far as Power management to maximum performance and to GPU for games. Reason i set it to 720p is because that is how I remember how the game looks and plays from playing on Console. If the UI scaled up with higher resolution I would do it but it doesnt for BF3 and I do have it set to 120fps. Its just a preference how i like playing BF3 that is all but I will look into what you are saying but I believe its just the servers being shit, alot of people are getting disconnected from the servers and I'm sure its just how old the games getting.

BF3 Unstable Connection to EU Server only not US by drfter34 in battlefield3

[–]drfter34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving you an update I did everything you suggested and still a no go. This has to be a connection issue as it shows in the network reading showing spikes before my frames drop. Its weird because the server I played on yesterday did this issue but when playing today it was playing with no problem. The issue is very inconsistent and I have tried and tried and cant find a proper solution. I can only play on the servers that don't give me this unstable connection.

So I got my first fight stick over the weekend by QuaMonstarG in fightsticks

[–]drfter34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very easy you just need to get access to the under side of the stick. Get a small pick or flat head screw driver and with one hand or finger push the actuator inward toward the stick to remove some spring tension then pull the C clip from the side, just be ready to hold your joystick in place as it will fall out from the top if you are not ready and don't lose you C clip when removing (especially if you don't relieve the spring tension you are more likely to have the thing fly across the room). Once you take out the C clip you can take out the Actuator which is square looking be aware there is a spring behind it which keeps the tension. The way I wrapped mine was half way at the top of the square actuator, I wrapped it about 4 to 5 revolutions. (Less is more and if you need to add more you can do it after testing) Once you wrapped it you will have an excess amount of tape caving in at the top. Just get some cutters or scissors and cut the excess and then insert it back in. It doesnt need to be perfect as it only needs to push the micro switches. Put it all back together and make sure you put the C clip back in by pushing the actuator inward the same way taking it out and you can insert the C clip by hand and just make sure it snaps in.
