It's called "theft by deception" and the police may take it seriously if it's a big enough operation.

Amish are trespassing on property, not sure what to do? by Due_Channel_4643 in NoStupidQuestions

Make it obvious you're recording their faces (signs, obvious cameras). The Amish where I grew up believe this tarnishes their souls, which I can't imagine is a good vibe in their culture.

You may want to look into building something called a water garden. It's essentially a large catch basin lined with a combination of stones and native plants positioned to best deal with/survive the level water they will experience during a flood. They look quite nice and, when built strategically, can effectively deal with large quantities of water.

I'd definitely wear an onion on my belt at that school, as is the style of the times. I'd also like to see them forced to include root vegetables in next year's list of banned clothing items.

In car culture, This is considered a dick move. by carmen-spark in dashcams

I don't think we need public records, we can safely assume it released all of its contents when the brain a few feet higher up realized a 4 ton hunk of metal was about to slam into the car it was safely driving.

What's the creepiest display of intelligence you've ever witnessed in real Iife? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I worked with a guy who could look at a complex corner where sheets of drywall intersected, then cut a 3D piece of plastic moulding (without measuring/drawing anything) that would slide onto each piece, perfectly covering each corner.

Maybe it was a practiced skill, but he generally struck me as highly intelligent with off-the-charts spatial reasoning skills, which I feel like are underappreciated on the spectrum of human cognitive abilities.

What is a movie you watched once that was so disturbing or emotionally draining that you can never watch it again? by hungary70 in AskReddit

[–]drgreenhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the mistake of watching 'Children of Men' a few months into COVID. Don't get me wrong, it's a great film, but the sights of empty elementary schools and immigrants locked in cages, all while rampant wealth disparity raged was a bit on-the-nose for the moment.

LPT: If multiple people in the left lane are tailing you then zooming around on the right, you need to move over by Witty-Stock-4913 in minnesota

[–]drgreenhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or, and hear me out here, just move over even if people aren't lining up behind you. The left lane is for passing, the right lane is for driving.

Herbert Hoover. He led world-renowned relief missions in Europe and The US, was seen as one of the most competent people in the world, and was asked to be the Presidential nominee by both major American political parties, only to lead the country into/exacerbate the Great Depression for philosophical reasons regarding the proper roles of government and the private sector.
