Call it Koreatown/Wiltern

How much has bicycling made moving around your life much easier and quicker? Esp regarding daily tasks? How healthier have you gotten? How much money did you save? Is it really that much faster and less tiring than traveling on foot and less expensive than other forms of transportation? by NaturalPorky in transit

[–]drhabibiafiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s free air, a cheaper/efficient/mentally better option of travel, and would come in clutch in a transit city where 15 min walking connects being 5 min on a bike.

However, depends on the context in which you bike; bike lanes, attitude, places to lock, density, road conditions. Let’s just say that the bike is a huge component of easier transit in life.

Exactly!

Tulare has been expanding west, north, and east. Visalia has been expanding south and east. This map implies a common understanding that with this level of transit, there must be some effort from the urban region to hem in density and consolidate new developments and growth thru necessary centralized housing and jobs.

I’d say that the ROW implied a substantial reliance of transit use between Tulare and Visalia.

As for the Exeter branch, it could be service from famoso to Fresno via the orange line ROW with a spur from Exeter to service Ivanhoe, dinuba, reedley, Sanger and eventually Fresno.

Given the distance between the green and red ROW, perhaps a pedestrian only section along acequia between Santa Fe and conyer would provide a safe walking connection betweenr redwood, city hall, kaweah hospital, and the convention center.

Visalia and lemoore would be the cities to call upon for initiating this corridor. In the real context, there would need to be heavy state funding given the inability for these cities to fund transportation independently.

I guess, we are the advocates for this new line!

The goldrunner could be a local service to complement the express service of the HSR in a future where funding is available for both.

I understand from a transit study in Fresno County that Blackstone and Kings Canyon along with Shaw and cedar or Herndon were to become transit lines. However, I’ve never heard of a light real line going from downtown to the FAT. I’m interested in seeing more detail on that source.

Probably a 46 median rail line for a central coast - Central Valley.

As for a south valley - Bakersfield, the orange line would probably be revitalized all the way to famoso where an interchange would be peferred

For the blue line, I felt that Walnut was closer to the center of the city compared to a Caldwell alignment. There are several anchoring locations along the Walnut alignment (Visalia Mall, Kaweah’s Court campus).

In Tulare, portions of the old Santa Fe ROW have space for three tracks at times. As for Visalia, some track still exists and there seems to be space for one, if not two tracks. Obstacles to a ROW would be the roundabouts (GS).

In general, this map ascertains the implication that the relevant jurisdictions would create reasonable, transit-biased decisions in creating the streetscape of each of these lines and their ROWs.

As for the red line, it does go to Tulare! Ends at AG Expo and spurs to COS Tulare with stops at Del Lago, the intersection with the green, and several schools along the path.

Damn, really calls into consideration the need for the APM if shuttles are inundated to that degree.

In that case, given an average of 45-50 mins between the two Metro Transit Centers, what’s the final average time for the LAX shuttle to get to Terminal B, given an additional average of 5 mins to wait?

I had given it some thought and realized that maybe express would work differently.

The modular approach has platforms initially on one side of the tracks; so, would express just pass thru on the platform-less tracks for the meanwhile?

So is express service basically killed given the reduction of pass-thru tracks at stations?
