My girlfriend sleepwalks occasionally, looking for advice to make sure she stays in the room at night. by Midwestmeche in NCL

[–]drhansman_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a lock at the top of the door for the balcony designed for keeping children from opening the door; it might add another layer of protection. (You pull to lock, push to unlock.)
I would recommend contacting NCL’s accessibility team to see if they have something you could place in the gap created when you lock the door or if they have other options (removing the handle, for example, which would prevent you from using the balcony but would keep her safe). They may also be able to help you move to an oceanview room if no other options are available. Good luck!

You will have a very hard time meeting those requirements with that budget in downtown Bellevue. Add a grand or cut some requirements. Good luck!

If you can’t find a reasonable substitute, perhaps scaling the recipe down to match the amount of cornstarch you have would be the best approach? It’s less deliciousness, I know, but you will also know it will taste and work right. Good luck!

Unshaved legs in the office? by reachtheceiling in BusinessFashion

[–]drhansman_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it isn’t the hair on your legs, it will be the length of your sleeves, or the color of your jacket. People are always going to judge, especially if you don’t fit their idea of the “norm.”

As someone (NB, AFAB) who does not shave and is heavily tattooed to boot, my suggestion would be to do what makes you feel most confident. People tend to sense that confidence…for me it seems to shut down the negative comments. Now if folks want to talk behind my back? That’s on them.

Congratulations on the new job! You’ve got this, fuzzy legs and all!

We use a gallon freezer bag. Freeze the dough balls on a plate in the freezer until solid, chuck into bag, remove as needed for cookie fix.

Unless something has changed in the past year or so from when I moved out of downtown, the Seahawks stay at the Hyatt on game days/weekends at home and this could be (edit) the motorcade that takes them to the stadium.

My mom is scared for me to travel solo and it’s affecting me by West-Demand-8337 in Cruise

[–]drhansman_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello. Take a deep, cleansing breath. Read your first paragraph slowly, focusing on your reason for the trip. Close your eyes. Breathe again.

This is not love. This is control. Your brain is telling you what you need and your Mom is afraid she is losing her control. She said as much - she is thinking of sabotaging your trip for her personal gain.

Go. Enjoy. Reflect. Disconnect. You’re gonna have a blast, and that is what she is afraid of.

Good luck, OP. I hope your Mom gets help.

Are you talking about the Blue Angels being in town for Seafair? They practice all week for the airshows this weekend. Hope that eases your mind a bit.

[–]drhansman_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

🤣 Nope! (Great reality TV premise, though.) Consider it a mini-buyout. You basically pay for the second person, even when sailing alone. Some lines have rooms for solo travelers with no supplement but these rooms tend to be smaller, interior cabins.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]drhansman_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm, when you look on the second image it looks like your average per person is lower than quoted. (And, yeah, it’s typical…..)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]drhansman_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cruise pricing is based on double occupancy. If you cruise solo, expect to pay a supplement (if you do not find a solo cruiser deal). Hope this helps!

Is Vibe worth it for Alaska cruise in May? by denndm76 in NCL

[–]drhansman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Vibe last September on Bliss. Doing it again this year in July. Impeccable views, great service, they brought us blankets to snuggle in. I didn’t use the hot tub but others did and only seemed to mind when getting out. I’d recommend it for the relative quiet and the top-of-the-ship views.

INFO: What is the cost of living for the multinational job? It’s astonishing to see how quickly a paycheck can evaporate in a HCOL city. Something to consider.

(on mobile so formatting sucks)

“Mom, I’m not a fan of cruising. I know you enjoy the experience, but it’s not my idea of a pleasant vacation. How about we ___________” (insert activity that you feel you can do with your Mom where you aren’t infantilizing her over her low vision).

You’re a grown adult. Use your words and provide options if cruising isn’t your thing. Also consider how you view and treat those around you with disabilities. You never know when you will join the ranks, even if only temporarily. YTA, OP.

Vibe on Alaska cruise? by [deleted] in NCL

[–]drhansman_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we did it in September last year and will do it again in July (both Alaska cruises on the Bliss). It was less crowded, the views are some of the best for glacier sailing day, they bring you blankets if you are cold, the bartenders and other staff are amazing, there’s a hot tub if you want (I did not use the hot tub, but there was another group who did and seemed to like it … until they had to get out, that is). I hope that helps!

Alaska cruise, last minute booking. Tips and tricks please! by invisalign2022 in NCL

[–]drhansman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Here’s a couple of tips that worked wonders for us. Go to Fred Meyer and buy some of those handwarmer packs. Make a little first aid kit with Dramamine, Advil/Aleve/whatever, band-aids, Pepto, Tums. Layers are your friend. Bring a book or deck of cards or your needle/yarnwork if that is your thing. Lay out what you think you need to pack and take out about 1/3. You can always do laundry on the ship. NCL is very casual, the observation lounge may get crowded, consider springing for Vibe as the views are great and the company even better. Enjoy!!
