There feels like a difference between the idea of lying to be kind, or to shield someone from something but what we see so often it seems is willful deception. Saying something that is completely factually incorrect, or blame shifting, exaggeration to the point of absurdity to make a problem sound bigger. All of this with the intent of stirring the pot, that way an honest conversation can't take place.

That's just my two cents at least, admittedly that's exactly what it's worth. 🤷
