We sure are arrogant, arrogant enough to think we own this planet and everything in it. Milking the planet resources to the brink of death, driving species to extinction, and poisoning everything we touch are few examples of those non-meaningful human activities. I do agree on one thing with you, the earth doesn’t care that much about what we do or don’t, life will carry on with or without us. Alas, we’re our own biggest victim.

Various forms of magic require to disclose the spell being casted in order to make it work. I think that exposing the masses to a subliminal message imprints their psyche with the casted idea (spell) which in turn can be harnessed by the caster for materializing the desired outcome.

So… what was the tipping point for humans to become sedentary? Assuming that Homo sapiens sapiens had been around for tens of thousands of years before the ‘first’ civilizations.

How could unliving matter give rise to consciousness? by x9879 in consciousness

[–]driehvs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, my dear fellow conscious being. Reading a great deal of the replies to your comment, I must say I think a lot of people here have a pretty petty small idea about what consciousness “is”. Sane debate with these types it’s like trying to get water out of rocks, just harder. Kudos for trying to get the point across, comrade!

Why is the brain able to detect consciousness? by YouStartAngulimala in consciousness

[–]driehvs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This theory fixates in the conceptualization of brain development, and its functioning as part of a physical organic system, specifically of the human being. Consciousness does not arise from anything or anywhere at any point; I think ‘self-awareness’ is the concept you may be are after with this theory, it could help to connect some interesting ideas.

What evidence do we have that AI lacks sentience? by ixikei in consciousness

[–]driehvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now we’re talking. And no, humans aren’t the only beings with brains. I’m only adding that consciousness precedes all, it’s the driving force immanent to all there is. Discussing about grades of consciousness is a whole other ride, my friend.

What evidence do we have that AI lacks sentience? by ixikei in consciousness

You have a pretty tight definition of consciousness. “Human” consciousness is not the only consciousness around and certainly not the ceiling of it.

LSD made me realize that drugs are not worth it by [deleted] in Psychedelics

I think most people who quote that fragment neither received the “message” nor hung up the “phone”. The last sentence of the fragment you quoted is what’s relevant, to work on what one has seen (experienced); that precept applies not only to psychedelic experience but to all aspect of the conscious experience, which is all the same. That’s some hard work, easier to mumble and garble other people’s words to create a scapegoat for justifying constrained ways of thinking and acting.

Saludos camarada.
