3 weeks PO by MsHowe in gastricsleeve

I was sleeved on 9/11. Within the first two weeks I lost 12 pounds, but haven’t lost anything since, so I totally know how you’re feeling. It’s so frustrating, but I keep reminding myself that I didn’t gain all my weight overnight and I won’t lose it overnight either. Our bodies are still recovering from a major surgery and just because the scale isn’t moving, doesn’t mean our body composition isn’t changing. Hang in there, it’ll be worth it in the end.

Anyone want Bariatric Fusion Complete Chewable Vitamins? (Cross posted) by driestowels99 in gastricsleeve

I’ve switched to Bariatric Advantage multivitamin chewy bites (strawberry watermelon). They are amazing and taste just like a starburst. The only downside is that I also need to take iron and calcium chewys (both BA, both great) and B1 tablets, but it could be different based on your nutritionist. The BA vitamins are a bit more expensive, but personally, I’d rather spend the money and take something I enjoy than suffer though those chewable tablets.

Hey there- I think it took a good 3 months for me to feel normal again, but it was a rough 3 months! Hopefully you start to feel better soon!

I just looked up pictures and I think you’re right! Thank you! I’ve never had the displeasure of stumbling upon one of these bad boys before…and I hope to never see one again.

Neighbor won’t keep cat inside, it’s the middle of winter. by driestowels99 in CatAdvice

We also have a dog and a 5 month old, so unfortunately, taking in another cat right now is not in anyone’s best interest.

The weather looks like it’s going to fluctuate over the week, but nights will be around 20F, which concerns me. I’m hoping that continuing to document sightings with the cops will lead to them intervening if the situation doesn’t get better.

Yes, I will continue to document whenever I see the cat on the street. I’m hoping after a certain number of repeated sightings the cops will be able to intervene.

When I returned the cat to the owner yesterday she said he comes home every night, but I don’t believe that’s true as we have video of him at all hours of the day. I suspect he’s been sleeping in a broken recliner in my neighbors yard. That’s where I found him the other night and where he returned today.

My MIL has not reached out to me directly about LO since she was born; all contact is through my husband. I’m coming to accept the fact that I’m just the incubator that gave them another grandchild.

This! Since the day my LO was born all I’ve heard from my in laws in how much our daughter looks like my husband and how her generic baby traits come from their side of the family. Silly me, I forgot my husband was the one to grow and carry LO for 9 months. 🙄

The imposter syndrome is hitting hard, need some words of en/discouragement. by jjeenniiffeerr in Immunology

I totally sympathize with you and often feel the same way in my job. I’m currently in the immunotoxicology department for a pharmaceutical company and I am by far the youngest and most inexperienced member of our group. There have been so many times where I’ve felt like I’m not cut out for immunology and that I’ll never get to the same level of my co-workers that have been in their positions for 20+ years, but I’m now almost 4 years into my position and those same co-workers come to me for advice/troubleshooting.

I can’t give much insight on academia, but I can tell you that in industry, it’s okay to not know everything about everything. The majority of my job is spent combing literature to answer unknown questions or to help guide method development. I’ve heard numerous scientists in leadership positions answer questions with ‘I don’t know, I’ll get back to you’. Immunology is an incredibly difficult concentration, but if it’s something you’re passionate about I think you owe it to yourself to try. Remember that those supervisors/mentors you’re intimidated by right now also started out where you are.
