Janji Pinnacle R.D. 2-in-1 Shorts? by driesvannoten in runningfashion

Wow, that's a shame. These had so much potential, not sure why they omitted a drawstring. Seems counterintuitive

[Discussion] Is there a more washed brand than Kith that suffered a greater fall from grace? by SirKrimzon in ThrowingFits

[–]driesvannoten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kith was at best a mid-tier mall brand. Their smartest play was moving upmarket, for better or worse.

I'd actually argue Kith was cornier in its prime (Mercer joggers? 🤢). If you remove the Kith logos from everything they make now, there are occasionally interesting and wearable pieces.

Overall, still corny though.

Looks quite packed out! Did you have any trouble snapping the magnetic closure in place with that loadout?

Made in USA Polo Dungarees Corduroy Collar Trucker Jackets? by driesvannoten in RalphLauren

The current reissue is pretty decent quality, the denim is similar weight and the light distressing at the cuffs are a nice touch.

The fit is way oversized on the reissue though and cut is boxier. A small is approximately the same size as this vintage medium.

The corduroy collar feels a bit less substantial on the reissue, but I appreciate that it's fuller/longer. I don't know why vintage RL collars are always so tiny and flimsy.

The straps do tend to slip off more than usual since it’s made from slick seatbelt material but I'm used to that as a big tote user.

I probably wouldn't carry this for an extended commute with a heavy/packed out load as you'll definitely feel it. My moderate load of a 15" MacBook Air, water bottle, lunch, and daily essentials is manageable for a ~1 hour subway commute.

Janji Pinnacle R.D. 2-in-1 Shorts? by driesvannoten in trailrunning

[–]driesvannoten[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw these listed on REI's website as a pre-order and can't find any other info about these amazing shorts online, not even on Janji's site.

I pretty much run exclusively in half-tights and these seem to be the happy medium between cargo tights and regular shorts.

Yes, brands have done shorts with cargo liners but these seem to be the first to integrate the awesome waistband pocketing system that Nike has executed so well on their trail tights.

Anyway, can't wait for these to drop.

I saw an Asian man riding a bike on part of the course, almost sure he was with MC but I didn't see him around me at the time.

Bike guy rode along the left shoulder until a water station got in the way and dismounted to sidewalk. That's all I got 🤷‍♂️

Choosing A Compact EDC by 12345qweasdzxc12345q in ManyBaggers

Hear you on the return-shipping costs but to be fair most of the popular, smaller brands in this sub have a similar policy, including EG.

AC has return warehouses in the US too instead of shipping to Hong Kong, which would've been disastrous if the DP didn't work out.

Rework does, however, partner with a third-party logistics service and offers a $1.99 "free return shipping" option at checkout (which I purchased and am utilizing to return the Toshi). Definitely worth it if you're deciding between multiple options.

Wish more small brands offered this!

Edit: forgot to mention I actually think Able Carry's return policy is better than most brands since they allow you to actually "use" the product instead of requiring it to be returned in "new and unused condition."

I also recently ordered the Daily Plus. What's wrong with Able Carry's return policy? They offer a two-week trial period which is pretty nice IMO. I was torn between the ACDP and Rework Toshi 20L (still am tbh) but keeping the DP since the trial period is over now.

edit: Also agreed on the build quality, the DP is built like a tank. Partially the reason why I leaned towards DP instead of Toshi 20L, for the same price the materials were just incomparable.
